Item #: SCP-033-KO

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The 3,772 secured instances of SCP-033-KO are stored in the Euclid object storage facility B7-7. The door is locked with a double lock, and four security guards stay on-site at all times in two shifts. All Foundation documents and copy papers should be thoroughly searched for potential SCP-033-KO instances in the Foundation.

When an instance showing anomalies is discovered, it should be sealed in a designated black bag and transported to storage site B7-7 while minimising exposure to personnel. In all cases, high-ranking personnel, especially members of the O5 Council, must not come in contact with SCP-033-KO. If such contact happens, Code White is activated. With the exception of Addendum 033-KO-2, all documents printed on SCP-033-KO instances must be moved to the storage site and banned from being read. Under no containment breach circumstances should the instances be damaged, incinerated, or discarded.

The object class is to be reset as Safe once all SCP-033-KO instances are secured.

Description: SCP-033-KO is a white copy paper sized 210 mm x 297 mm. It is confirmed that the Foundation recovered 3,722 out of 5,000 SCP-033-KO instances. The remaining 1,228 instances are suspected to be in Foundation research and administration facilities. On confirmation of the instance, the protocols as above should be followed.

SCP-033-KO is visually identical to a regular A4 copy paper and does not show any anomalies when no text is recorded. However, when text, regardless of form, is recorded on the paper, SCP-033-KO transcribes the reader's thoughts on itself. The transcriptions were all confirmed to be true. The original text is moved down so as not to overlap with the transcription. A series of tests showed that the anomaly occurs when the reader is capable of 'the cognitive process of reading and understanding.'

The reader's actual name is added as an annotation of the transcription. However, if the reader has forgotten their real name, the annotation is replaced with their title, as seen on incident A-033-C2, where one of the O5 council members were involved. If the text follows a specific format, and the reader understands the format, the transcription also follows the format. In addition, if a Foundation document is printed on SCP-033-KO, and the reader knows the censored contents, the censored contents will appear on the document.

On ██/█/20██, SCP-033-KO was brought in while a Foundation proxy organisation purchased a bulk of 5,000 copy papers from ███████ Paper Makers. The instances were spread across the Foundation, mixed with regular A4 sheets. No further instances have been brought in since. Methyl orange reagent tests showed the English word "Factory", sized 3cm x 1cm, is written across the long side of the paper. This is similar to a digital watermark and can also be observed when heat is applied to the paper. The acidic substance used to print these texts is unidentified.

There have been no reports of SCP-033-KO outside the Foundation.

Addendum:

Addendum 033-KO-2: Instance SCP-033-KO-588

Below is instance SCP-033-KO-588, which is this document printed on the instance and shown to five random employees(including the copier), and transcribed and re-censored on another piece of paper. Addendum itself is omitted. - Dr Irwin

Memo: Why don't we put all the suspicious bundles of paper in an oven and heat it up? - Agent Pogue

Memo: A paper with the inner thoughts of the O5… Tempting. - Agent Jegal ████

The object class is to be reset as Safe once all SCP-033-KO instances are secured.

Memo: Hmm… Are there only 5,000 of these? If not… Shouldn't we be searching for more? - Agent Kim ████

Memo: Yikes! I knew some personal stuff slipped in reports… Could this be? - Professor Yonge
Additional Memo: [DATA EXPUNGED]] Oh wait, I'm deleting this too. That's too problematic. - Dr Irwin

The transcriptions were all confirmed to be true. The original text is moved down so as not to overlap with the transcription. A series of tests showed that the anomaly occurs when the reader is capable of 'the cognitive process of reading and understanding.'

MemoMemo: Wait, what if it runs out of space? Does it go to the next page? Hmm… I should find out. - Agent Pogue
Additional MemoMemo: Results show that the text is pushed outside when space runs out, so you can't see it. It doesn't move to the next page. - Professor Yonge

Memo: So censorship can be avoided… This looks quite dangerous. - Agent Jegal ████
Additional Memo: No shit, Sherlock. - Agent Kim ████
Additional Memo: No need to be that rude about it. - Dr Irwin

Memo: [REDACTED] … Dang, you again? - Agent Jegal ████

There have been no reports of SCP-033-KO outside the Foundation.

Memo: Then… This can help in containing a sentient SCP object trying to run away. If we write down the containment procedure here and show it to him… It will reveal its escape plans, and we can update the protocol according to it. I should propose it at the regular meeting. - Professor Yonge
Additional Memo: By the way, this is fun. It feels like writing comments on the internet. - Dr Irwin

The contents shown on SCP-033-KO can also be used as data for personal appraisal. Please, curb your uncivilised personal thoughts and show some seriousness that you had when you got your degree or took the Agent test. - Matilda Braya, Korea Regional Command Human Resources
