Item #: SCP-088-JP
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: In the event of SCP-088-JP, the cover story "Stillbirth" is to be applied and Paper-A is to be surgically removed from the subject. The subject and the individuals involved are to be amnesticized, and the relevant photograph is to be recovered.
Description: SCP-088-JP is an anomalous phenomenon that occurs in pregnant females with extremely low probability. When a pregnant female (hereafter referred to as "the subject") is affected by SCP-088-JP, the fetus disappears from her womb, and a non-anomalous paper (hereafter referred to as "Paper-A") manifests instead. In most cases, the occurrence is discovered when the subject complains physical pain.
Paper-A instances vary in type, such as drawing paper or postcard, tending to be derived from the culture in which the subject lives. Paper-A contains text with poor writing style and vocabulary. Although there are minor differences in the content, all instances share a similar statement of not wanting to be born to the subject.
Near the original due date, the subject receives a family photograph with a note that the writer was born to a different family1. The couple in the photograph claim that they have no memory of sending it; there is no blood relationship between their child and the subject.
