Description: SCP-2203-JP is a phenomenon in which large groups of unknown organisms bearing features of yarrow (Achillea) plants (SCP-2203-JP-1) abruptly manifest. The locations in which these events occur, besides being an outdoor location, have no common pattern, and attempts to predict occurrences of SCP-2203-JP have not proven successful. If SCP-2203-JP occurs on land, it is common that local media will report the sudden appearance of flower fields. As of now, all such events have been successfully covered up by local field agents; however, if SCP-2203-JP were to occur in a densely populated area, it would be difficult to cover up. Due to the danger posed to the Veil, SCP-2203-JP has been classified Keter.

SCP-2203-JP-1 is a plant measuring approximately 30 cm in height. While they possess qualities of yarrow plants (Achillea), multiple white flowers can grow from one stem, similar to mustard plants (Brassica). In addition, SCP-2203-JP-1 do not produce seeds. As these plants are already blooming when they appear, SCP-2203-JP-1's premature form is unknown. As they do not possess atypical resistance to damage, they can be terminated as with normal plants.

According to satellite observations, SCP-2203-JP occurred an average of 20 times a year since 2010, with an average area of approximately 10 km². In 1960, the year satellite observation first became available, only 4 occurrences of SCP-2203-JP were recorded, with an average size of 300 m²; it can be observed thus that the frequency and size of occurrences have been steadily increasing. No accurate data exists on the rate of occurrences prior to 1960, however, records show that the average size was even smaller, and that no single year in the 1800s had more than 2 occurrences. In addition, data collected since 1960 shows that only approximately 30% of SCP-2203-JP events occur on land; the remaining 70% occurs over water².

In the first half of the 1900s, SCP-2203-JP was theorized to be SCP-2203-JP-1's reproduction mechanism, in that as SCP-2203-JP-1 possessed no ability to produce seeds or pollen, it required anomalous methods, namely SCP-2203-JP, to reproduce. However, beginning in 1950 with the increased discovery of occurrences over water and the increase in rate of occurrence in general, alternative theories relating to SCP-2203-JP began to take hold. While the reason for which SCP-2203-JP occurs is not currently confirmed, the dominant theory is that some other factor rather than simple plant reproduction is the cause of SCP-2203-JP.

As the reason for SCP-2203-JP's occurrence has not been confirmed and no means of stopping SCP-2203-JP's increase in occurrence is known to exist, the Foundation's upper management has set up a SCP-2203-JP Special Response Team. The Special Response Team will draw up a plan for the Foundation's continued operation under the premise that SCP-2203-JP will eventually cover the entire earth. In addition to researchers studying post-Veil-collapse society, experts in astrophysics were also assigned to the Special Response Team.

The Earth 60 days after the large-scale occurrence of SCP-2203-JP

In the case that SCP-2203-JP occurs on a scale that covers the entire Earth's surface, it would be inevitable that the Veil would be broken. However, would not be the largest problem. In the case where SCP-2203-JP occurs and covers 90% of the Earth's surface, an XK-Class end-of-the-world scenario would inevitably occur, wiping out human civilization. This is because SCP-2203-JP-1's flowers are white. To put it a little more simply, if the entire surface of the Earth, both land and water, were covered with SCP-2203-JP-1, ice-albedo feedback would occur. Ice-albedo feedback occurs, say, when most of the Earth's surface is covered with ice, which can reflect a large proportion of light from the Sun back into space, preventing heat from accumulating on the Earth's surface and causing the Earth to cool. While this effect last froze the Earth over more than 600 million years ago, the same effect would be caused by the white flowers covering the entire Earth's surface. In addition, as SCP-2203-JP-1 is a plant, it can carry out photosynthesis. The mass appearance of plants on an Earth-covering scale, all photosynthesizing at once, would lower the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, producing the opposite effect of global warming. Of course, a large amount of SCP-2203-JP-1 would soon wither and die, rendering them unable to carry out photosynthesis, but ice-albedo feedback, specifically the "feedback" part, is sure to freeze the earth over. According to our calculations, in the case where SCP-2203-JP covers the entire Earth, global temperatures would drop to an average of -30°C in a single week. Following this, with the oceans frozen, temperatures would further drop below -60°C within the first month. Some humans would likely survive in shelters, but there is no way human society would not have collapsed by then.

The SCP-2203-JP Special Response Team is currently evaluating the use of other objects to dispose of mass amounts of SCP-2203-JP-1. However, even if the disposal were to succeed, there is a high chance that a second or third large-scale occurrence would take place; if the anomaly is not stopped at the source, there is no way to resolve the situation.

On 2014/01/19, during research on exoplanets, researchers assigned to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) discovered that Kepler-1649c³'s reflected light had increased approximately threefold. As the event had occurred within the short span of 24 hours, it was determined that an object with anomalous properties was most likely involved, and analysis was taken over by the Foundation. Based on the results of further analysis, the increase in reflectance was due to Kepler-1649c's surface being covered in a white substance, and simultaneously it was discovered that the concentration of carbon dioxide in Kepler-1649c's atmosphere had significantly decreased compared to before the incident⁴. The team assigned to the incident concluded that there was a possibility that SCP-2203-JP had occurred on Kepler-1649c, and proposed a plan to more closely examine the surface of Kepler-1649c.

The O5 Council approved the plan, and in order to observe the surface of Kepler-1649c approximately 300 light-years away from a project to launch a large-scale space telescope began. The plan requires an estimated 7 billion dollars and the use of multiple other anomalous objects, and is planned to complete in 2021. Through the hard work of many Foundation personnel, the project was completed ahead of schedule. The Foundation successfully observed Kepler-1649c as well as many other exoplanets, and confirmed the state of Kepler-1649c as well as the origin of SCP-2203-JP.
