Item #: SCP-PL-057

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-PL-057 specimens should be contained in a special containers, in which temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and low humidity should be maintained. Access to the containers' content is only available to researchers assigned to researching the object. For testing purposes with a permission of researcher assigned to the object, with at least level three clearance, the object's specimens can be send to the experimental subsoil for fungi growth in Area 23. Air of the room, in which the subsoil is located, should have high humidity, and entrances to it must be guarded by one security personnel. In the event of recovery of more specimens of the object/other anomalous fungi species the subsoil can be enlarged with additional sectors. The experimental subsoil should be under the supervision of two scientists with mycological education.

Description: SCP-PL-057 is a fungus Leccinum Gray from the family Boletaceae. From normal specimens of this species it is distinguished by wider pileus. The object acquires an extremely large number of organic compounds during the mycorrhiza process.

During physical contact with the object with a temperature of 36,6 degrees Celsius or above, the subject will change its position in space to the nearest location in which a lower temperature occurs. The minimal range of this phenomenon is one meter, and maximum is unknown and maximum probably depends on the value by which the temperature of the object in degrees Kelvin coming into physical contact with the object exceeded 36,6 degrees Celsius. After fragmentation, specimens of the object lose anomalous properties.
