Muma Musume is on maintenance and I'm bored for that, is there anything I can do to spend my free time until dawn or so in a nice way?

If it's only a couple of hours, why don't you just watch some free videos or feign your death? I've been bored since the days of Mesopotamian.

Well, that's true but, you see, I was wondering if there is anything more.

Today, I would like to talk about a dream urban legend, "The Sleepyhead", which is also a hot topic in reality.

The Sleepyhead is a so-called "Do Not Know" taboo story, and the following words are the only information that has been circulated.

Do not see its appearance.
Do not hear the sound it makes.
And do not even picture it in your mind.

Never learn a single thing about the Sleepyhead from anyone.

If you catch a glimpse of its back, overhear a noise it made, or visualize its whole shape in your mind based on the information you were given, the Sleepyhead will appear in your dream the next time you go to sleep.

little_marmalade0 21/08/16 (Mon) 02:26:57 #24857412

Yeah, it's a typical horror story. Perhaps no one knows what the actual "Sleepyhead" looks like?

dagblocken 21/08/16 (Mon) 02:42:07 #97821540

That's right. After all, it is taboo to know or imagine. It should be almost impossible to imagine what it looks like, what kind of things the victims go through, or any other correct information.

And yet, for some reason, reports of seeing the Sleepyhead in dreams seem to come up frequently. Moreover, despite false information everywhere, the appearance of this entity seems to be consistent in all sightings.

undertalker04 21/08/16 (Mon) 02:57:52 #30154112

Just to confirm, are those who have reported seeing that guy in their dreams the hosts in reality? Or their Shadows? Which one?

dagblocken 21/08/16 (Mon) 03:08:33 #97821540

Oops, I should have explained this better. It's both sides reporting. Or, to be more precise, there seem to be more sightings on the Oneiroi side, of a "must-not-be-described" monster that suddenly emerges into subconscious areas.

Once appeared, the monster (I'll spare you its appearance and means, since "must-not-be-described" is the established rule) is said to take the Shadow of the subconscious host somewhere. The host in reality themselves don't fall into unconsciousness or anything, and can wake up normally, but they are unable to perceive the dream world thereafter due to the loss of their own Shadow. In some cases, it is rumored that they become lethargic due to the effects and many even die.

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 03:23:44 #24875922

Oh, I also seem to remember overhearing something about that. There was some kind of development where the victim was getting more and more affected as the days went by, I think.

dagblocken 21/08/16 (Mon) 03:40:11 #97821540

Maybe this one?

Day 1: The Sleepyhead came to your dream
Day 2: The Sleepyhead was looking for you
Day 3: The Sleepyhead found you
Day 4: Where did the Sleepyhead go?
Day 5: The Sleepyhead is out there

This is most likely retrofitted, though.

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 03:57:05 #24875922

Ooh, that's probably it. Horror stories about not being able to return to one's body are truly terrifying. I get really creeped out when I imagine me waking up normally in reality, but also being left behind in a dream and seeing it happen. Is such a situation different from what it feels like to be a non-corporeal?

undertalker04 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:09:42 #30154112

The complete separation of a physical body and its Shadow is fairly rare on the civilian level, so you'd have no idea from reading dreamedical books and the like. Usually they end up succumbing to corruption.

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:16:27 #24875922

Wait, I think I just heard a strange sound on the reality side… (I don't think it's related, but considering the description of the Sleepyhead, maybe I shouldn't elaborate on it right now?)

Anyway, I'm going back to the home area for a moment. I'll let you know if I find anything else about that sound.

little_marmalade0 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:21:38 #24857412

See you! I hope that's not the one the Sleepyhead made!

farteller39 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:36:09 #92874456

Hey, this may be superfluous, but I have one thought.

The Sleepyhead's true identity may be a unique type of Oneiroi or non-con. Let's say a certain Oneiroi somehow spread a rumor about this monster in the reality. When a dreamer gets information about its appearance, they imagine its shape, which generates a "monster image," an empty dream entity in their subconscious mind.

While this "monster image" remains as cached data, it is basically buried in a pile of garbages in a subconscious corner, simply forgotten by the host, like any other product of thought recall.

However, it is quite possible that the particular Oneiroi who spread the rumor have used these "monster images," which roughly match their own appearance and structure, as a kind of remote portal — to make unauthorized entry into the subconscious areas of the dreamers who pictured them in mind. Or possibly, they may even be able to remotely control the "monster images."

dagblocken 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:40:02 #97821540

Suddenly the Sleepyhead has lost its wonder…! (And I have to get up already)

Now that I had a nice bit of fun, it's time to go back home.

Um, it's me, the corporeal guy who was reading your horror thread earlier. You don't say that if I see or hear what you just talked about while in the dream, it would have a negative effect on my physical body in reality, do you?

For some reason, when I tried to go back to my subconscious, the route search didn't get any results. Also, the text doesn't seem to display properly anymore, like it's glitchy in places.

little_marmalade0 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:44:14 #24857412

I'm a corporeal too, but I don't have any of those symptoms. It's not like you actually saw the Sle████ead. Are you sure it's not just a matter of the dreamline around the access point being unstable or something?

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:44:50 #████████

Access to other websites and subconscious areas is fine, so maybe it's not the line. And it's almost dawn; I'd be in serious trouble if I can't get back there at this point, since my physical body is on a bus trip and should be arriving at its destination soon.

farteller39 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:47:37 #92874456

I don't think it is likely that your bus trip is causing the location search to not function properly (If you are a Shadow with extremely tenuous self-awareness, or you're traveling by airplane, that would be a ifferent story). If you don't mind me asking and can t██l me your host's IP address, I'll do a quick check.

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:47:58 #████████

Thanks! (I'm bluring it out just in case.) ██.██.███.███

undertalker04 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:49:30 #30154112

You aren't going to tell us that you've be███e a non-corporeal without even realizing it, right?

No, that can't happen, everybody usually notices.

farteller39 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:52:07 #92874456

Um… the bus you were on, was it an overnight one to ██████, arriving at 5:30?

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:52:21 #████████

Yes, that's it! Figured out why I can't access to me?!

farteller39 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:53:19 #92874456

Please calm down and listen to me, the bus apparently had an accident.

So probably your body died. █'█ █████.

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:53:51 #████████

What? Don't tell me bullshit. Even I would realize it if my physical body died. If it were true, I wouldn't be able to be active right now because I haven't become a non-corporeal. Are you fucking kidding me?

little_marmalade0 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:54:25 #24857412

What, we're talking to a Corpse now? Not an impersonator?

travelatoly24 21/08/16 (Mon) 04:54:52 #████████

What is that.

What the hell is that, what do you mean "corpse"?

Forum » General / True Horror Stories » Dreamcorpse » Thread Post 1

dathe_melw08 16/04/09 (Sat) 21:01:48 #2487597

What do you imagine w██n you hear the word "corpse"? While the word basically means a human cadaver, in this oneiric realm, it is sometimes used to refer to a particular kind of being.

The formal term for them is spoken of as Corpse Oneiroi - or Dreamcorpses. However, they appear almost exclusively in ancient lore, and I doubt that many Oneiroi know what they are called or have actually witnessed them, since it is extremely ████ to encounter them.

It is a well-known fact that when a human dies, the Shadow derived from them is almost invariably ceases to exist. Only a ████ few succeed in separating themselves properly from their physical bodies and descend into the dream world as pure Oneiroi. But ████ are different.

To put them accurately, they are "pseudo-non-corporeal", or those who failed to become non-corporeal. Like successful ██re Oneiroi, they descended into dreams upon the death of their physical bodies; but something went wrong, they failed to separate from their bodies, and their structures have unknowingly be██n to disintegrate.

And, by a strange happenstance, I was present at the scene where one of them vanished. He was sitting at the counter of a bar, ███████ing with his friends. There was nothing out of the ordinary about him, no sign of anyhing other than a drunken demeanor. But just as dawn was approaching and he got up from his seat saying, "It's time to wake up," his bodily structure was instantly replaced by empty sand and disappeared without leaving any trace of is existence.

To my horror, he was apparently not evn aware of the fact that his body in reality had already died until dawn, when he was supposed to wake up. The corpses walk around at night, behaving as they normally do, oblivious to the truth that they are dead. This may be the rea██n why almost no one claims to have witnessed Dreamcorpses. We, too, may be unaware that they are corpses, and continue to interact with them as usual until the time comes.
