Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ES -022 must be placed in a 10m x 10m container with waste or contaminated water equipped with a temperature regulation system that maintains the container at a stable temperature between 20 and 30 degrees to avoid incidents. The container is also equipped with a glass for observing SCP-ES-022 and a pumping and filtering system to replace the water every 2 weeks after it has been completely purified.
Description: SCP-ES-022 is made up of a gelatinous mass divided into 3 parts.
- An outer membrane which serves as a protective barrier, regulates and filters liquids and segregates different substances.
- A viscous liquid located between the outer membrane and the core, this liquid consumes impurities that are in contact with it such as microorganisms or artificial contaminants.
- A solid core that stores nutrients and is believed to have an echolocation system based on low-frequency sounds that allows SCP-ES-022 to distinguish the environment in which it is located and thus be able to move.
The size of SCP-ES-022 is approximately 30cm x 30cm in diameter and approximately 1.5m x 1.5m in diameter after absorbing contaminated liquids. These liquids are expelled after 1 to 2 hours of being absorbed. Once SCP-ES-022 expels the liquids, they are completely purified and without traces of contaminants.
SCP-ES-022 was found in the [DATA EXPUNGED] lake, which would explain the enormous amount of fresh water in the place.
Studies carried out on SCP-ES-022 detected that it is a living organism, but it does not present any consciousness or intelligence, acting solely by "instinct".

Water deprivation tests in SCP-ES-022
An attempt has been made to deprive SCP-ES-022 of water, which causes it to begin to "vibrate", it is believed to be some liquid location system based on low frequency sound waves imperceptible to the human ear.
If SCP-ES-022 determines that there are no nearby liquids or cannot access them, it will enter a "hibernation" state in which it will remain completely immobile and harden its outer membrane by segregating hardening gel.
Temperature tests on SCP-ES-022
Attempts have been made to place SCP-ES-022 in liquids with high and low temperatures.
High temperatures between 50 to 60 degrees cause an increase in activity in SCP-ES-022, it will begin to expand and contract rapidly, rapidly cooling the water in the container.
On the other hand, low temperatures between 5 and 0 degrees cause SCP-ES-022 to secrete an antifreeze substance, it is believed to be some defense system in case of freezing to prevent the formation of ice crystals in the core .
Tests with salt in SCP-ES-022
An attempt has been made to place an exact quantity of 50gr of salt in the container of SCP-ES-022, which did not cause visible changes in its behavior or activity.
After approximately 3 days, the formation of salt crystals could be observed inside SCP-ES-022, although this did not seem to affect it, continuing with its filtering routine.
After 2 weeks, those same crystals covered with a waterproof gel could be observed in a corner of the container, the weight of the crystals was exactly 50gr, SCP-ES-022 proved to be able to completely desalinate the water it filters, which attracted the interest in its use for the benefit of the Foundation.
Tests with meat in SCP-ES-022
An attempt has been made to feed SCP-ES-22 a 300g piece of fresh bovine meat.
At first it ignored the meat, but after a few minutes it pounced on it and absorbed it.
Shows no interest in meat, only dries it out by absorbing its fluids and expelling the meat covered with waterproof gel after leaving it dry.
The same test has been carried out with live animals such as small rodents, SCP-ES-022 seems to be able to distinguish if what is inside it is alive or not, quickly expelling live animals that come into contact with it, a few seconds later .
Tests with Class-D personnel: In this test, 10 members of Class-D personnel were ordered to ingest an exact quantity of 500 ml of water purified by SCP-ES-022 and they were immediately put under observation for a period of 40 days.
Results:Once the test was completed, the personnel used underwent complete medical examinations and none presented abnormalities of any kind.
Analysis results: SCP-ES-022 does not present visible internal organs besides the nucleus or any nervous system despite reacting to external physical stimuli, its only objective or function seems to be to consume impurities, desalinate and not harm beings alive in the process
Possible useful uses for the Foundation:
At the request of Dr. ████████, the possibility of using the water purified by SCP-ES-022 for personal consumption is being discussed since studies carried out in it they demonstrated that its properties and level of health are ideal for human consumption.
It also proved not to cause any negative effect on the health of those who consume it.
