I was surprised, in recent years, to find that once the various apartments or family homes were emptied, I no longer felt anything for these places, which had all become vague, hostile cages of sorts, once the people who used to live there were gone. So I challenged myself to write from the point of view of a guy who has a diametrically and fundamentally opposed perspective to mine on this subject.
