Groups of Interest of the Korean Branch

Overview

The GoIs of the Korean Branch can be divided into two subgroups.

One consists of groups that are not based on Korea, including BE and NOTE. They were created in the early days of the SCP-KO website, when they had no sense of being settled within the nativeness of Korea or the Korean context.

The other is made up of relatively new groups, all of which are native to Korea spatially. In this new tide, it is considered essential for GoI to interact with the spatial background of Korea and the context of the history and society of Korean people.

Currently, there are eight Groups of Interest listed in the Korean Branch.

Beyond Entropy

Beyond Entropy
Origin: Active in: Creator:	France, 1997 the entire world thd-glasses
- Environmentalists that wish to overcome the Second Law of Thermodynamics. - Emerged from the "Environmental Shelter Community" (ESC). - Stole information regarding ectoentropic objects from the Foundation, and created some themselves. - Views anomalies as a natural thing that people should accept. Oppose the destruction and the imprisonment of harmless anomalous objects. - Works divided into cells, each with their own task and goal. - Also try to aid people suffering from the anomalous, sabotage industry and conduct eco-activity through the use of anomalous objects. - Hostile towards of the Foundation. - Tries to keep causalities as low as possible

Beyond Entropy towards other GoI

Division XXV
Beyond Entropy harbours an interest in the remains of Division XXV since many of them function with no apparent power supply, even though it doesn’t know anything about the Division.
The Hive
Beyond Entropy and the Hive share data and work together for research purposes. Many members of Beyond Entropy, however, are wary of Hive members, describing them as uncanny.
Korean Serpent’s Hand
Beyond Entropy shows interest in the Korean Serpent's Hand's knowledge about entropy-ignoring anomalies.

Celeste

Celeste
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Korea, 2010s South Korea HS KHADYG, quilt, et al.
- Celeste is an enterprise that provides information, anomalous goods and services to private tutoring or other private institutes or develops educational businesses using them. - Celeste originated from the late 2000s when educational companies such as private institutes and publishers, which secured irregular means of business, formed a cartel. -The anomalous techniques involved are not believed to be very dangerous. - Mainly active in education complexes in Seoul. - Has numerous front companies and affiliate businesses.

Celeste is hostile to the NPES and is being pursued.
Global Occult Coalition
Celeste takes a different attitude toward the GOC depending on the situation. Has being tracked.

Dinodon's Hand

Dinodon's Hand, a.k.a. Korean Serpent's Hand
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Korea (Joseon Dynasty) Korean peninsula Salamander724
- Korean branch of Serpent's Hand - Originally the "Underground Taoists" that deserted from the Joseon Dynasty's secret governmental agency in 1701. - First contact with Serpent's Hand (or the predecessor of the Serpent's Hand) was made in the USA in the 1910s, via Industrial Workers of the World. - Founded as the "Dinodon's Society" in 1919. - Fought against Imperial Japanese paranormal agencies by assisting the anarchic Korean resistance in the 1920s-30s. - Collapsed during the Korean War (1945-1953) and reorganised as "Dinodon's Hand" in the 1970s. - A woman named Hoya became its current leader in 2011. She is the daughter of SCP-953. - Hostile to GOC, but tries to avoid the Foundation. - Politically anarcho-syndicalist. They distrust "para-capitalists" such as Marshall, Carter & Dark or Dr. Wondertainment. - Tries to avoid harming civilians, but can be ruthless towards operatives of the paranormal world if necessary.

Beyond Entropy
The Korean Serpent’s Hand is aware of the existence of Beyond Entropy but does not agree with its ideal, and even despises BE. It thinks that "paranormal environmentalism" is so trivial and significantly less important than other issues, such as organising paranormal people and struggling against paranormal capitalists.
Division XXV
The Korean Serpent's Hand didn't interact with Division XXV due to their different geographical location. Anomalies previously belonging to Division XXV are still of interest to them.
Global Occult Coalition
The Korean Serpent’s Hand is outright hostile towards the GOC. Above all, GOC Far East (stationed in Japan) is the group's main enemy.
IJAMEA
In the 1920s-30s, The Korean Serpent’s Hand assisted the Korean Anarchistic Resistance by fighting against the Imperial Japanese paranormal agencies. IJAMEA was one of their main enemies during that time.
Imperial Japanese Army Special Medical Force
In the 1920s-30s, The Korean Serpent’s Hand assisted the Korean anarchistic resistance by fighting against the Imperial Japanese paranormal agencies. IJASMF was one of their main enemies during that time.
Marshall, Carter, and Dark Ltd.
Korean Serpent's Hand distrusts MC&D and assumes a hostile attitude to these "para-capitalists".
Noonday Oak Troupe
The Korean Serpent's Hand does not directly relate with NOTE but occasionally assists NOTE if an incident occurs within their area of control.
ROYAL INSTITUTE OF ITALIAN ANOMALIES
SH-KO doesn't interact with the Royal Institute due to their different active periods and locations.
Serpent's Hand
Other Serpent's Hand groups have recognised the Korean Serpent's Hand and allowed them access to the Wanderer's Library. The Korean Serpent's Hand built a cooperative system with other Serpent's Hands to plan their common values. Currently, an Irish woman named Morrígan stays with the Korean Serpent's Hand and serves as a liaison between the other Hands and the Korean Serpent's Hand.
Das Wunderkabinett
Hoya and Mirabilis have a complicated relationship. Hoya finds the Purple Witch a bit clingy, extremely chaotic and too materialistic, Mirabilis on the other hand finds „the little fox girl" adorable.

KCIA 10th Bu.

The 10th Bureau, Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA 10th Bu.)
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Korea, 1973 Korean Peninsular (No longer Active) thd-glasses
- Paranormal response agency under the KCIA of the 4th Korean Republic. - An attempt to directly control South Korean paranormal security, which until then had been handled by the Foundation. - Rather than research, the 10th Bu. focuses more on collecting instantly utilisable paranormal technology to keep the Foundation in check. - The 10th Bu. became a major competitor of the Foundation Korea Regional Command, hindering the Foundation's actions in South Korea. - Disbanded after the 5th Republic signed the Pearson Memorandum with the Foundation, handing over paranormal issues to the Foundation. - Most of its assets were absorbed by the Foundation, but some were scattered to other GoIs in Korea.

Midnight Club

- A group of incorporeal entities and ectomorphs. - Smaller precursors of the club merged together in the early 1970s. - Treats ghosts as human, and is against phycisism and ectomorphic paranormal technologies such as SCP-2716 - Comprised of three branches: Human Resources, Management, External Affairs, each with its respective supervisors. - Members have various ages, backgrounds and causes of death. - Does not actively harm civilians, unless members are threatened first.

Midnight Club, towards other GoI

Dinodon's Hand
The Club is wary of the Dinodon's Hand and their psychics.
KCIA 10th Bu.
Some members were assaulted or arrested by the KCIA 10th Bu. and hence despises them.
NPES
The NPES is pursuing the Midnight Club, and the Midnight Club is wary of it.
The Factory
The Midnight Club is hostile to the Factory because of their ectomorphic technology products, and actively tries to sabotage their business.
Noonday Oak Troupe
The Midnight Club has a friendly relationship with NOTE, even with some members active in NOTE.
Samdaecheon
Due to Samdaecheon's CEO, Im Hanyeong's ties with the KCIA 10th Bu., and their experiments using ghosts, the Midnight Club is hostile towards Samdaecheon.

Noonday Oak Troupe

Noonday Oak Troupe (NOTE)
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Taiwan East Asia Z-cian
- Founded in 191█ by street performers - In the past, the Troupe held concerts to encourage people and to help the lower classes. - Today, NOTE creates anomalous music instruments that may or may not function properly. - Performs with its own creations, or donates them to the public. - Some performers seem to be anomalous beings. - Amicable towards of the Foundation. - Wishes no harm, often asks the Foundation for damage control.

Are We Cool Yet?
NOTE is hostile towards AWCY because it thinks they are terrible people, given that their art has caused harm to innocents. Sometimes, defectors from AWCY join NOTE. The master accepts them, but other staff are dissatisfied with this.
Chaos Insurgency
NOTE is very hostile towards the Insurgency because it commits atrocities such as human experimentation in the developing world.
Church of the Broken God
NOTE doesn't get along with the Church, as its religious activities have disturbed NOTE many times.
Division XXV
NOTE never realised the existence of Division XXV and showed mild interest in its remaining creations.
The Fifth Church
NOTE is cautious of the Fifthism, as its religious activities have disturbed NOTE many times.
Gamers Against Weed
NOTE has no particular opinion about the Gamers.
Global Occult Coalition
GOC considers NOTE as one of its targets. NOTE is aware of this, and avoids encounters with GOC.
Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting
NOTE is cautious of Herman Fuller's Circus. Occasionally, renegades from Herman Fuller's Circus join NOTE.
The Hive
The Hive is a benefactor of NOTE and has a good standing with the Troupe, despite recruiting some of its members for itself.
Korean Serpent’s Hand
NOTE thinks of the Korean Serpent's Hand as some kind of "benefactor", given that it helps them sometimes when incidents occur.
Manna Charitable Foundation
NOTE has a friendly attitude towards the Manna Charitable Foundation, considering that their goals are similar.
Meat Circus
NOTE is cautious of the Meat Circus. Occasionally, former members of the Meat Circus join NOTE.
Office For The Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts
NOTE is very hostile towards ORIA, as ORIA is a subordinate agency of the Iranian clerical dictatorial government.
Oneiroi Collective
The elders and masters of NOTE have contact with OC, but the details of that contact are unknown.
Sarkicism
NOTE is cautious of the Sarkic Cults, as their religious activities have disturbed NOTE many times.
Serpent’s Hand
Agents of the Serpent's Hand join NOTE sometimes, and there are some personnel who belong to both groups at the same time. NOTE is only marginally concerned by this.
Unusual Incidents Unit
NOTE is annoyed by the UIUs investigations and thinks of the Unit as "fuzz" or "officialists".

NPES

National Paranormal Emergency Service
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Korea, 2017 Korean Peninsular thd-glasses
- The presidential anti-anomaly organization of the Republic of Korea. - Established in December 2017, after the Joint Statement of December 5th. - Pursuit paranormal cases and illegal GoI in the Korean territory. - Does not have any abnormal assets, per the Joint Statement. Every anomaly they secured is given to the Foundation. - Despite all these restrictions, it has a capable intelligence network around the country and professional special forces which can handle risky cases related to anomalies.

The NPES claims not to be the successor of the KCIA 10th Bu. It treats the bureau as an example of what not to do.
Korean Serpent's Hand
The NPES registers the Dinodon's Hand as an illegal group of interest and has been tracing it.
Celeste
The NPES registers the Celeste as an illegal group of interest and has been tracing it.
National Gendastrerie
The NPES cooperates with the French Gendastrerie as a member of the International Abnormal Police Association(IAPO, PANGEA).

PlugSoft

Plugsoft
Origin: Active in: Creator:	Unknown East Asia, but sells worldwide lanlanmag
- Producer of anomalous video games. - Firstly detected by the Foundation in 20██. - Sell their products in the online game mall "██" which can't be accessed by the Foundation. - Little is known about PlugSoft, but it occasionally sends personnel to Foundation sites for "bug fixes". Apprehended individuals vanish after a while. - Apparently, there are many customers of PlugSoft, but the Foundation never located a player of its games. - Neutral towards of the Foundation, although respectful. - Not completely immoral, but prioritise making money over other concerns.

The stance of PlugSoft towards Division XXV is unknown at this time.
The Hive
Plugsoft is aware of the Hive, but does not pay it more attention as it deems necessary.

Samdaecheon

Samdaecheon
Origin: Active in: Creator:	South Korea, 1970 East Asia Physique
- An anomalous large-scale company based in South Korea that pursues physical enhancement and prolonged lifespan. Currently active in East Asia. - Divided into three subsidiaries: Samdaecheon Fitness, which provides anomalous fitness equipment and personal training; Samdaechon Health care, which hunts spiritual animals and tests, sells anomalous drugs; and Samdaecheon Sports, which holds illegal fight clubs or partakes in escort services. - Originally was a group of trainers and biologists with anomalous technology, but the current CEO, Im Hanyeong, either killed or submitted them to change the group to be the corporation Samdaecheon today. - Remained the biggest criminal gang in Korea for a long time and is responsible for destroying the anomalous ecosystem of the Korean peninsula by indiscreet hunting. - The Foundation and the NPES' constant suppression attempts and the old age of the CEO made Samdaechon smaller, currently resembling a company more than a gang.

Beyond Entropy
Due to Samdaecheon's poaching, BE is hostile towards Samdaecheon.
NPES
NPES constantly tries to suppress Samdaecheon and, therefore, hostile towards Samdaecheon.
KCIA 10th Bu.
The current CEO, Im Hanyeong, had ties to the government when the KCIA 10th Bureau existed. Therefore, the two groups maintained a cooperative relationship.

The Alleys

The Alleys
Origin: Active in: Creator:	South Korea. Around 1990-2000. World Wide Web romrom
- An online community of individuals related to anomalies. - The exact date of establishment is unknown. Rumours suggest it developed from a small chat room created between 1990 and 2000. - Accessible through an anomalous program called the "Horsehair Worm Program." - Divided into two separate communities called "Front Alley" and "Back Alley." - "Front Alley" is where individuals openly discuss their affiliated organisations. However, due to the low reliability of the verification method, it's uncertain if they are genuinely part of those organisations. - "Back Alley" allows activities under anonymity or fixed nicknames, resulting in more users than "Front Alley." - As is typical of online communities, anomalous objects are used/created for various purposes but are usually made to cater to user's interests and entertainment.

The Dinodon's Hand
The Dinodon's hand is not outright rejected, but those who know about its activities are wary of the organisation. Dinodon's Hand members have decided not to join and be active in The Alleys according to internal consensus.
Celeste
Reviews of Celeste's products are often uploaded. They are mostly critical.
NPES
The Alleys update the Horsehair Worm Program to avoid tracking from NPES.
Global Occult Foundation
Most users hate or are neutral to the GOC, similar to the Foundation. They let the GOC take care of odd instances.
PlugSoft
PlugSoft game walkthroughs or talks about the company itself are some of the topics among the users. However, little is known about Plugsoft on the site.
Midnight Club
Some club members use The Alleys to promote ghost's rights, but usually met with indifference.
Gamers Against Weed
Some users share content created by GAW or export content created by The Alleys. However, there is no significant exchange.
PAMWAC
Similar to the GAW, contents are shared between the two communities. Some users despise PAMWAC for being cringe. However, communication is active as the two communities are located in neighbouring countries.
TING Forum
Some users are aware because both of them are in-veil communities. However, there aren't any significant interactions.
Parawatch
Due to their ignorance of anomalies, the general sentiment is to mock them.
Samdaecheon
Reviews about the company's products can often be seen on the forum, along with occasional complaints about work-life balance.
The Violet
Known as anomalous insects. Numerous reports of damage are posted during the summer.

Origin: Active in: Creator:	Large extradimensional cluster All dimensions with crustaceans, nematodes, or annelids and almost all dimensions around it SHARK_BYTES
- Consists of several thousand extradimensional fragments. - Invades other dimensions for survival. - Preexisting contact with the baseline universe, but discovered in 2020. - The Violet warps surrounding dimensions, making it easier to form interdimensional pathways. - All of the Violet creatures either are or resemble crustaceans, nematodes, or annelids. - Used to be active throughout the entire baseline, but currently mostly limited to Korea and its vicinity. - No permanent bases. If a location is depleted of resources, they move on to another one.

In General
Most creatures of the Violet are not friendly to local lifeforms. Hence, they are hostile towards all GoI.
