SCP-021-DE

Item #: SCP-021-DE

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All samples of SCP-021-DE must be situated in two separate water tanks. All employees wishing to enter the security area of SCP-021-DE have to wear an atmospheric protective suit and be sanitized beneath a chemical shower upon exiting. In case of containment breach, the whole area must be evacuated and placed under quarantine. Furthermore, all female personnel have to be inoculated with the Soxoniel vaccine.

Description: SCP-021-DE designates a virus bearing an infection rate of 85.33%. The virus can be transmitted through bodily fluids and animals. Outside of a host, the virus survives for several weeks to months. Symptoms of an infection differ between female and male gender. The following symptoms indicate an infection for men:

  • Intense coughing of blood
  • Warm swollen spots on the body
  • Diarrhea
  • Slime inside the throat
  • Dizziness and muscular atrophy
  • Acute nausea

Identifying symptoms of an SCP-021-DE infection is easier for the female gender and are similar to pregnancy.

  • Intense coughing of blood
  • Swollen abdomen
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness and muscular atrophy
  • Acute nausea
  • Mood swings

Once a woman is infected by SCP-021-DE, she should be inoculated with the vaccine Soxoniel S6 as soon as possible to hinder the virus's entry into the uterus. The time period until the virus penetrates the uterus is 12-17 days. If the virus has reached the uterus, it will implant a specimen of the viruses in it and let the host give birth to it. Affected women experience great pain during this stage (See Test Log 021-DE).

The virus present inside the uterus feeds on the food the host ingests, which it can do through a kind of metabolism the virus only develops in the uterus. The duration of the virus's growth inside of the female subject is shorter than a normal pregnancy. A test has shown that it can take up to 3 months until the virus is born. Both the birth and the entire "pregnancy" are a terrible torment for the affected woman.

Two tests involving female D-Class personnel tasked with giving birth to one of the viruses were conducted thus far. The first failed, as the host died of overwhelming agony. However, the second test showed that while giving birth to the virus is certainly possible, keeping it alive is not. The virus perished during its birth, as SCP-021-DE-1 cannot survive outside of its host.

The enlarged birthed virus is designated as SCP-021-DE-1 and measures 1.38 m in length including flagellum. To keep its cell wall intact, SCP-021-DE-1 is secured inside of a glass water tank to observe and assess its situation.

Addendum: SCP-021-DE was discovered and secured in the ██████████ university in Berlin. The virus was created by Dr. ████████ in a bio laboratory, and the former got infected by the virus himself and was seized by Foundation personnel to prevent more infections. 4 other employees got infected by the virus during its retrieval, one (1) of which died.
