A painted depiction of SCP-026-DE and an instance of SCP-026-DE-1, 1908.
Item #: SCP-026-DE
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-026-DE is isolated inside a 10 x 10 x 5 meter large room with a single folding chair. Said room must be soundproof to prevent the activation of its anomalous effect and is monitored by four (4) cameras installed in the room's four upper corners. All damages on the room are to be reported immediately to a supervisor and fixed exclusively by members of D-Class personnel. The folding chair is always used by SCP-026-DE for sitting.
Fifteen (15) members of the security personnel are assigned to securing SCP-026-DE. In case of an attempted breach by SCP-026-DE, assigned security personnel is instructed to open fire at own discretion. Should this not suffice, the MTF unit DE12-𝖀 ("Signposts") is ordered to return SCP-026-DE back into its intended room.
Interviews are solely conducted with the help of speakers installed in the room and microphones, while the interviewer is present inside a designated anteroom with live camera feed. The interviewer may not be present with SCP-026-DE in one room, as this entails an extremely high risk (s. "Interview-026-1"). However, this safety measure can be suspended, with the approval of an O4 Council member, for the purpose of examining and researching SCP-026-DE (s. "Test-026-1").
In case of an activation of SCP-026-DE's anomalous properties, the assigned team consisting of researchers, literati, poets, and authors is instructed to solve the riddle posed by SCP-026-DE. Solving it must succeed in a given time period, except the activation of the anomalous property is part of an attempt with D-Class personnel.
SCP-026-DE is capable of vanishing and re-appearing in another place, provided it is not present inside a person's field of sight. By use of cameras installed in the room, this anomalous ability is suppressed by commissioning security guards to observe SCP-026-DE with the help of said cameras.
Due to Dr. Grimm's theory, all Foundation members of high rank are strictly prohibited of establishing visual contact with SCP-026-DE and thus activate the anomalous ability (s. "Incident-██████").
Description: SCP-026-DE is a 1.47 meter high and 52 kilogram heavy humanoid being. SCP-026-DE features, apart from arms and legs, a pair of wings consisting of bird feathers. These wings potrude from the upper part of SCP-026-DE's back. SCP-026-DE can move them freely. SCP-026-DE wears a cloak of black velvet and has a gender-neutral face. Nevertheless, some employees assigned to it state that the face of SCP-026-DE appears female, while SCP-026-DE possesses the voice of a mature male adult. The skin color of SCP-026-DE appears grey.
An oil painting was created by ████████ ██████ in 1908 (s. above). The painting depicts SCP-026-DE as described, except that it carries a lamp in its hand.
Thus a connection with SCP-019-DE is assumed,
Dr. ██████ is the one who this theory brooded.
The ability's striking similarity strengthens this theory,
But the form of the lamp belongs in another category.
It is thus thought by many these days,
That the painter had brought the change.
Another artistic depiction of SCP-026-DE, year unknown.
A second painting shows SCP-026-DE in a more artistic way, by which SCP-026-DE is depicted with halo, as female, carrying a head and standing on humans. Both the painter as well as the year of creation are unknown.
SCP-026-DE is fluent in German, English, French, Italian, Polish, Czech, and Russian. SCP-026-DE is intelligent and capable of answering questions. However, SCP-026-DE only answers when the question has been posed in poet form in couple rhyme. The same applies to simple conversations. It should be noted that SCP-026-DE's anomalous property is activated once visual contact with SCP-026-DE is established. In case of activation, indicated containment procedures are to be followed.
Several interviews and tests involving the activation of SCP-026-DE's anomalous property were conducted and recorded in multiple documents (s. "Interview-026-1 & Interview-026-2"; "Test-026-1" and [REDACTED]).
To evade large numbers of victims, the indicated containment procedures must be followed with strictest precaution and precision (s. "Incident-██████").
There has already been one attempted breach of SCP-026-DE from its cell (see "Incident 026-DE"). By utilizing flamethrowers and heavily darkened helmet glasses, the MTF unit DE12-𝖀 ("Signposts") managed to push SCP-026-DE back into its designated room. The operation proceeded without casualties on the MTF's part.
The anomalous property of SCP-026-DE is triggered and activated the moment visual contact is established. Following visual contact, SCP-026-DE will pose a riddle to its victim (hereafter designated and identified as "SCP-026-DE-1") the latter has to solve, and sets a time of five (5) minutes in the form of a finger sign. Solving the riddles was found to be exceedingly hard. Thus, not even one of the riddles posed by SCP-026-DE was solved by the personnel of the German Foundation branch. Failing to solve the riddle in the time set by SCP-026-DE leads to immediate cardiac arrest. Riddles are always posed the rhyme-riddle-way and feature an ongoing couple rhyme. There is a call of solving the riddle at the end of every rhyme riddle, where the couple rhyme's properties are also present.
All known instances of SCP-026-DE-1 and their associated riddles were recorded (s. "Table SCP-026-DE-1 and riddles"). The individual SCP-026-DE-1 instances are numbered consecutively with SCP-026-DE-1-1/2/3/…
If the riddle is not solved in the given time and thus cardiac arrest of SCP-026-DE-1 sets in, SCP-026-DE whispers the sentence "The rhyme of death you have caged, the angels shall thee obtained", and lowers his head to the corpse of SCP-026-DE-1 in a way akin to mourning the dead. This could be heard by using microphones and cameras.
Discovery: The German Foundation branch became aware of SCP-026-DE following all citizens of the village ██████ perishing due to cardiac arrest (s. Incident ██████"). Rumors about sightings of a death angel surfaced. All outsiders and witnesses were treated with Class B amnestics. SCP-026-DE was found inside an abandoned tower from the Middle Ages in the village's vicinity. With the aid of MTF unit DE12-𝕹 ("Poor Sight"), SCP-026-DE was contained.

Dr. ██████ |
The riddle posed:
I'm very thirsty, knoweth that!
Whine alone never fills the glass.
And yet I am very confident,
The faith deep, the light of men.
Heaven green, Hell white,
Just like a geriatric, I'm old of pride,
And I say, "thus know yourself",
The time, it presses,
Thus show me how you behave.

Agent ██████ |
The riddle posed:
It rages, circles, and pulsates,
When lost, a poor weeps.
The girls rejoice, dancing happily,
Their song so beautiful and blazing.
But the youth wields a sharp sword,
And sit high, atop a loyal horse!
But if brought together, what's costly,
A feast emerges, no noise silly!
Thus I ask again,
What am I?
So solve swiftly,
For never-stopping is time.

The riddle posed:
I bring gifts, too much are two,
Then my hand, the dices to throw.
So play with me! Enough are words,
See how shallow my world.
But a small gift you must return,
And I give you the clam's pearl.
I tell you, the answer's not far off,
Thus search, until to the ground you're brought.

D-Class Personal No. ████ |
The riddle posed:
I'd know everything, if I liked,
The world, it turns, very quiet.
The blades' shelter, stand by me,
A colorful mishmash, artistry!
There he stands, behind me, the reaper,
And brings wisdom, onto paper!
A large table, he stands alone,
But a shine, an eye's move!
The question, already written,
"What and who?",
In the sea, large, empty, blue.

D-Class Personal No. ████ |
The riddle posed:
The dead's tomb, eternity,
So much inside, with nullity.
Solely through time, the fire smoulders,
And yet it is my great little treasure.
And bring me whine, thus I bring juice,
And bring me bread, thus I grant verdure.
Dead silence thus rules the tomb,
Solely a scream shrill in tone.
All you have left is time
So search now, the word to find.
You will find the answer with you,
It's a human, no wild brute.

SCP-026-DE-1-6 |
Agent ██████ of Unit DE12-𝕹 ("Poor Sight") |
The riddle posed:
You thus hold me, cold your arm,
Close to Heaven, the heart quite warm.
Thus back and fort the time is swinging,
And I become at times slowly so empty.
The heart, it pounds, with yellow and red,
So help me out! I Small in distress!
And I ask you,
Then what was I?
If you solve it,
Yours is glory.

SCP-026-DE: …
Visual contact is established.
Dr. ██████: Uhm… Hello 026. How are yo-…
SCP-026-DE: Well then, a guest, times one of the people! Oh yes, it's thus a reason for pleasure!
Dr. ██████: What? Ugh, no, I didn't want to…
SCP-026-DE begins to pose its riddle.
Dr. ██████: No! I don't want to solve your riddle! I… I wanted… no! Get me out of here immediately!
Intercom: You know very well we can't do that, doctor. Remain calm and attempt to solve the riddle.
Dr. ██████: Pardon me?! I'm to… but… How?!
Intercom: Just try.
After a period of 5 minutes, Dr. ██████ died of cardiac arrest.

Interviewer: Dr. ████
[LOG START]
Dr. ████ is present inside an adjacent room during the interview, with a microphone and a screen, with the live-feed of the occurrences inside the room of SCP-026-DE.
Dr. ████: …I.. I welcome you, foreign guest. What is your name, if telling is no distress?
SCP-026-DE: I'm of no name, and who's the visitant? I was already there, you are the encumbrance.
Dr. ████: A load we are? You need to explain? I'm a scholar, no load daffy.
SCP-026-DE: You speak quite strange, what's up? No word of shame, just curious.
Dr. ████: Uhh… The language's hard… ohm, no… I… Ugh, dammit, I can't think of anything…
SCP-026-DE: …Can't understand you, your language's too hard! Show me your eye, I'll mouth you farther.
Dr. ████: … We cancel the interview!
Dr. ████: That's it for today, until next time. Today will suffice, of no choice am I.
SCP-026-DE: Upcoming, again, until then my pal! One word suffices, sweetly you shall fantasize.

Versuch-026-1
Date: 01.04.████
Test performed by: Dr. ████████
D-Class personnel No. ████ was lead into the room of SCP-026-DE without prior knowledge. No. ████ looked around and, shortly after having overlooked the room, established visual contact with SCP-026-DE.
SCP-026-DE greets No. ████ (from now on designated and identified as SCP-026-DE-1-4) initially in the usual couple rhyme form, posing a riddle to SCP-026-DE-1 (s. "Table SCP-026-DE-1 and Riddles"). SCP-026-DE-1-4 looked at SCP-026-DE in confusion.
After it was explained to SCP-026-DE-1-4 that his death is imminent, albeit he solves the riddle, he refused to solve the riddle, approaching SCP-026-DE with raised arms. Just before SCP-026-DE-1-4 could could strike, SCP-026-DE used its wings to shield itself from the attack by closing them around it in a cocoon-like fashion. SCP-026-DE-1-4's fist bounced off of the seemingly solid feathers and SCP-026-DE-1-4 went down. SCP-026-DE opened its wings shortly thereafter, without saying a word.
SCP-026-DE-1-4 perished on cardiac arrest after five (5) minutes. The corpse was transported out of the room for examination using drones.
Incident-██████
Date: 19.02.███
Written by: Dr. Grimm
On the ██.██.20██, all citizens of the village ██████ died on a cardiac arrest. The theory that SCP-026-DE haunted the village stems from Dr. Grimm.
At first, SCP-026-DE visited the village's representative and posed a riddle to him. The representative of the village had to solve it in a time period given by SCP-026-DE. The riddle's content is unknown, as every witness died from cardiac arrest.
The representative of the village ██████ was unable to solve the riddle, which resulted in cardiac arrest. However, not only the instance of SCP-026-DE-1 perished on this occasion but all people subordinated to him.
This riddle shows that SCP-026-DE possesses the ability to pose riddles to a collective or community.
Incident 026-DE
Date: 20.06.███
Written by: Dr. Ficht
On the ██.██.20██, following a short system error of the cameras, SCP-026-DE managed to move out of the locked room and pose a riddle to Agent ████. As he was unable to solve the riddle, he died of cardiac arrest. However, Agent ████ was able to contact his superior to inform him about SCP-026-DE's position.
The MTF unit DE12-𝖀 immediately went to the mentioned location of SCP-026-DE, discovering both SCP-026-DE as well as the perished instance of SCP-026-DE-1-3. Given that the MTF unit DE12-𝖀 was equipped with opaque glasses in their full-head helmets, the members of DE12-𝖀 had to wait for and follow instructions by a member of the security personnel. The security personnel member could observe SCP-026-DE through several cameras and thus give appropriate instructions.
The MTF unit's members used their assault rifles and flamethrowers to push back SCP-026-DE. SCP-026-DE utilized its wings for protection. All projectiles bounced off the wings.
In consequence of SCP-026-DE's breach, the camera software was reengineered to avoid another system error.
