SCP-078-DE

What is it called? The name of the object is SCP-078-DE.

How do you classify it? Well, we still disagree on this, but many are content with the "Safe" class.

How can it be contained? That's not so hard! In fact, you can't really contain SCP-078-DE. It is inactive as long as no one describes it verbally. So, apart from the fact that one should not describe it verbally, there are no containment procedures. Oh yes, I almost forgot. You must not know about the existence of this thingy if you have a security level beneath level 3. This should ensure that it doesn't escape by accident. And if anything leaks, find the person responsible and amnestitize them.

How does it look? The SCP is a type of infohazard that turns all information existing about it into a kind of FAQ, which appears quite unprofessional and sounds like talking to a colleague, or something like that. But this only applies to written formats. Should someone say something about SCP-078-DE, after a while they will hear voices asking each other questions. The psychic condition will only worsen the longer it is described. You're probably asking yourself "But why don't you just stop talking about it? Then the effect would stop too, right?", that's the trick, once you start to describe it, you won't be able to stop. This may sound crazy, but it's the truth, the longer you talk about it, the more worse you feel, but at the same time you can' stop because you're being practically forced to talk about it. But at some point this effect seems to diminish and you can stop talking about it and everything's back to normal. The voices in your head will also be gone.

However, this effect only really seems to get going there. After around a day, you can see that the person becomes more and more inattentive and appears to be lost in thought. After about two more days, you can see the persons becoming more and more stressed and aggressive. Affected persons describe their own situation as an infernal agony. They say that two voices continually talk to each other in their thoughts by asking each other questions and answering them. Even dreams are said to be plagued by these voices. It is therefore understandable if you are stressed all the time and quick to anger… Especially in response to questions. By the way! In addition, the questions the voices ask each other become increasingly intimate and disturbing after every question. There are even said to be questions about their own body or questions about things the afflicted has never heard about. Furthermore, many say that when they asked the voices something, they replied and then just continued to ask back and forth. We once wanted to conduct an interview with the affected… He wasn't thrilled to be invited to an interview and also declined. But why do we have D-class? The one we had "invited" this time was also someone from D-class. He accepted the "offer" too. The interview can viewed below.

We once tested whether the effect stops with amnestics, but it doesn't. It is forever, as it seems. We once asked the person affected to write some questions the voices are asking each other. But they couldn't write down those questions, as they couldn't really focus because of the voices in their head. That's why this test only resulted in jumble. Besides, we found parts of a diary owned by one of the affected. That guy must have been highly focused when he wrote that… But given that the parts don't fit within the description, you can open it up below with some blurbs and read it. Some affected persons wanted to commit themselves when they went mad. We fulfilled their wish and put them into solitary confinement where D-class usually go in.

How was it found? It was initially noticed within the data of our files, which suddenly looked like an FAQ. Then, when a staff member wanted to talk about it with someone else, they couldn't stop and developed the effects already mentioned above. We came to the conclusion that it constitutes an infohazardous anomaly that is related to this "FAQ format" of our files. We assume that the anomaly has been smuggled in through ways we don't understand, but we are currently working on the case and investigate it. And since we have locked the access to the files about this thing and forbade everyone to talk about it, nothing has happened. Not even in our files. But we have no idea why.

Has something already happened that has to do with it? No, not yet, except perhaps during its discovery. But we have ran some tests with D-class.
