Special Containment Procedures: It is currently believed that SCP-083-VN no longer displays any anomalous properties. The frame and panel of SCP-083-VN will be stored in the Average-risk Anomalous Item Storage Wing, while the door knocker will be kept in a storage locker equipped with two layers of locks, accessible only to personnel with security clearance level 4 or higher.
Despite no longer exhibiting any anomalous traits, all interactions with SCP-083-VN are forbidden outside of testing.

Containment Procedures (Archived): SCP-083-VN must be contained in an item storage area with two layers of lock, which are only accessible with level 4 or higher clearance and, put under strict surveillance. All sounds coming from the door as well as any attempt at testing must be reported to responsible staff.
Description: SCP-083-VN is the collective designation for a full-framed dark brown wooden door (SCP-083-VN-A) and an attached door knocker (SCP-083-VN-B). SCP-083-VN-A is not connected to any other structure and has a new and modern appearance. SCP-083-VN-B is made of iron and posesses a relatively intricate design, allegedly dating back to more than 500 years ago. Many miniature strange symbols, which are easily overlooked without close examination of the anomaly, can be seen on the inside of the ring structure. A stanza written in Old East Slavic (used in the 9th to 13th century) was discovered on the backside of SCP-083-VN:
Beware! Ye mortals.
To pass, sacrifice thine most prized possession:
Thine ego, thine very essence,
And bask in grace,
By his peaceful eternal slumber,
Never awaken.
Stay quiet in thy walk, talk, and laughter,
In thy praying to the knocker,
And in fear, for thou art facing the very abode of God."
When opened normally, SCP-083-VN functions like a normal door. Its anomalous properties only manifest if a subject knocks on SCP-083-VN-A with SCP-083-VN-B, which causes the subject to see an alternate dimension (designated SCP-083-VN-1) beyond the door after opening it. It is perpetually night time in this dimension, with no sound to be heard. Within an area from 500 metres to 1500 metres starting from the door, all communication and navigation devices, transmitters, and electrical appliances will quickly lose signal or malfunction. This anomalous property appears to continue for as long as SCP-083-VN remains a unified whole.
Addendum: Discovery
SCP-083-VN was discovered in an abandoned factory in the western part of Kursk, Russia on March 14, 2002. Local authorities found the anomaly while searching for four missing children who were playing in the aforementioned area.
The only notable object discovered amonsgt the ruins of the factory was SCP-083-VN, which was abandoned after August of 1943. The police of Kursk used the door knocker as told by the children's other friends and experienced its anomalous trait, which led to them finding and rescuing three out of four missing children. According to the testimony of the rescued children, the last member decided to venture deeper into the area upon hearing his "friends' calling".
The Foundation's recovery team took over and secured the object before the police investigation team could enter SCP-083-VN again. All involved personnel were given amnestic and falsified information while the missing subject was falsely reported as deceased after an accident while playing in a harzardous area.
Addendum: Testing
The experiments below has been conducted after SCP-083-VN was retrieved:
Action: Open the door normally.
Result: Nothing happened.

Action: Knock once before opening.
Result: SCP-083-VN-1 can only be seen from the side with SCP-083-VN-B attached and not the other. .
Action: Knock once before opening, then quickly close and reopen it.
Result: SCP-083-VN-1 manifested after the first opening of the door, but did not appear after the second opening. Personel attempted to move from the side where SCP-083-VN-1 is not visible and then the other way around. This personnel was observed to move through the door frame once and entering SCP-083-VN-1 on the way back.
Action: Knock once before opening and leave the door open for 7 days.
Result: No changes occured to the landscape inside SCP-083-VN.
Action: Knock once before opening. Let a drone enter SCP-083-VN-1 with a camera and a flash light.
Result: The drone disappeared 5 meters into the forest. After approximately 750 meters, the camera's footage became distorted and the flash light ceased working. At approximately 1000 meters from the door, the drone gradually lost its ability to maintain height and the camera quickly stopped functioning.
Action: Knock once before opening. A personnel entered SCP-083-VN-1 equipped with a steel lantern and a 1.5-kilometer-long durable plastic-coated tether connected to a handheld camera.
Result: After approximately 1 kilometer, the camera's connection became unstable and its footage became distorted. The test subject could not receive instructions efficiently. After approximately 1.3 kilometers, the camera completely lost connection and the tether was reeled back to recover the test subject. However, the retrieval progress was thwarted by an abnormally strong force pulling against the tether, which caused it to snap after a 15 minutes struggle. The force was measured to be over 1500 N1.
Action: Knock three times before opening.
Result: Gusts of wind, reported to be "bitterly cold", blows in SCP-083-VN-1 in random intervals. A burnt and damp smell also pervades the dimension despite the open landscape.
Action: Knock five times before opening and sending a drone attached to a tether inside SCP-083-VN-1.
Result: It was confirmed that the landscape remains unchanged except for the wind blowing. However, strange silhouettes were observed amongst the foliage, but it remained unknown whether they were the trees moving or living organisms. The drone was immediately redirected back upon the initial signs of camera interference.
Action: Knocking seven times before opening.
Result: The gusts of wind inside SCP-083-VN-1 grew stronger, which obstructed further exploration.

Action: Knock rapidly about ten times before opening.
Result: The moon appeared approximately five times larger than before. SCP-083-VN-1 experienced less frequent winds, but the wind increased in intensity with each erratic gust. Faint whispers could be heard in the distance. Personnel reported hearing distinct voice of an adult and a minor after reviewing the voice record, which repetitively vocalise the phrase "Invader begone, disturb not his sleep, for when he wakes, you all shall perish."
Action: Violently knock fifteen times before opening.
Result: The wind ceased blowing inside SCP-083-VN-1. Several humanoid silhouettes could be seen in the surrounding forest. After roughly 15 minutes, testing staff decided to send in an exploration drone. However, immediately after the drone was activated, all silhouettes charged toward the door. The containment team quickly closed the door as a countermeasure, which caused all the silhouettes to slam into the other side of the door. This collision ripped a hole on the door panel and caused SCP-083-VN-B to deattach from SCP-083-VN-A.
Since SCP-083-VN no longer displays its anomalous properties as expected, as well as due to unforeseenable consequences of testing, all relevant testing are to be indefinitely suspended. Proposal to reclassify SCP-083-VN as Neutralized is currently pending.
