SCP-128-VN Specimen Containment Storage Facility
Special Containment Procedures: Perform tracking and conduct minor surgical operations to excise SCP-128-VN from all individuals exhibiting signs of infection. All medical information regarding the appearance of SCP-128-VN is to be suppressed and covered by fabricated documentation, classifying such manifestations within the medical community as benign tumor formations in early development, accompanied by pica syndrome attributed to psychosomatic alterations.
12/04/2022 - Compound D14B72 has been marketed as a stomach ache medication with the ability to neutralize SCP-128-VN during initial stages.
27/09/2023 - Numerous press conferences, health and life improvement campaigns have been held across the United States of America in particular and North America in general to reduce SCP-128-VN density and prevent the Un-Veil scenario.
Description: SCP-128-VN is a parasitic entity located inside human stomach. Mature instances measure approximately 30 cm in length, resembling a hybrid between Scolopendra gigantea (Amazonian giant centipede) and various deep-sea crustaceans. SCP-128-VN instances may possess a thin chitinous exoshell that encases a bioluminescent, soft, and easily damaged core. In addition to its ability to parasitically integrate and survive within highly acidic environments, SCP-128-VN exerts influence on its host's dietary behavior (hereafter designated as SCP-128-VN-A).
Discovery/Typical instances:
General report of 128-VN-01 instances
Midday on 12/03/2019, Johny8TO (designated SCP-128-VN-A-1), male individual working as an independent content creator, was transported to the emergency department during an active livestream session. Subject was admitted due to severe gastric pain, suspected to be caused by a table knife allegedly ingested unintentionally during a prior mukbang broadcast.
Medical personnel on duty in the operating room at the time, including one Foundation embedded agent, identified SCP-128-VN for the first time within patient's gastric wall. A silver table knife approximately 10 cm in length was found impaled through the body of the anomalous entity, causing it to thrash violently and resulting in intense pain for the host.
All recorded footage and eyewitnesses were processed in accordance with standard protocol. A retrieval team was dispatched to transfer SCP-128-VN-A-1 to the nearest Foundation-operated medical facility for observation purposes.
Two days after surgical procedure, SCP-128-VN-A-1 regained consciousness. Subject requested an extra-large meal portion, along with access to his personal mobile phone in order to conduct a scheduled livestream. Subject further requested the use of metal cutlery (with knife and fork), stating that “plastic utensils make the food taste bad.” This request was denied due to prior incident. Following the denial, subject exhibited visible irritation and engaged in continuous verbal complaints for several dozen minutes before ultimately abandoning the request.
Over the following week of observation, monitoring team identified a significant correlation between SCP-128-VN-A-1’s dietary intake/body mass and the corresponding development of SCP-128-VN. During this period, SCP-128-VN-1 has grown to full maturation, attaining a maximum length of approximately 30 cm and developing a distinct, luminescent core layer, clearly observable via endoscopic examination.
SCP-128-VN-A-1's nutritional requirements throughout monitoring period gradually increased in both size and quantity of non-food items. Subject also exhibited clear resistance and agitation when not provided with items, along with frequent stomach pains.
On the night of 25/03/2019, SCP-128-VN-A-1 was discovered curled up inside its room in a critically ill state, having been unable to contact assistance in time (subject suffered from Class III obesity). Fortunately, an emergency rapid-response surgical procedure successfully removed the foreign object causing damage within SCP-128-VN-A-1’s stomach: a button-cell battery retrieved from the wristwatch issued to the subject at the beginning of monitoring.
In a post-recovery interview, SCP-128-VN-A-1 stated that it had begun engaging in content creation, with a particular focus on incorporating non-edible items into eating menus. This behaviour began as a publicity gimmick and gradually developed into a genuine interest or obsession, leading to its current state (although it remains unclear whether this habit was the origin of SCP-128-VN’s manifestation, or a consequence of SCP-128-VN itself).
SCP-128-VN-A-1 was provided with a standard weight-loss diet and placed under strict supervision as part of an attempt to fully contain SCP-128-VN. This measure appeared to result in the complete disappearance of SCP-128-VN approximately two months following protocol initiation.
Note: During the course of treatment for SCP-128-VN-A-1, a second instance (designated as SCP-128-VN-A-2) was discovered and successfully retrieved on 17/03/2019, confirming the existence of multiple SCP-128-VN entities as a systematic anomalous phenomenon rather than a singular, unique anomaly.
Update: On 25/02/2025
Within North America region alone, recorded instances of SCP-128-VN have surpassed 250 million, with the total continuing to rise at an accelerating rate.
