SCP-1566-JP-9 in the active state as observed during initial containment.

Item #: SCP-1566-JP

Object Class: Safe Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures (Obsolete): All instances of SCP-1566-JP are to be contained in Site-81██. Each instance is to be kept in a glass casing of a size that accommodates its range of motion. Any behavior that deviates from the normal activity pattern of SCP-1566-JP is to be documented.

Investigations into the origin of SCP-1566-JP and its possible connection to other entities are ongoing.

Description: SCP-1566-JP is a collective designation for nineteen entities (-1~19) that resemble the "Musical Jolly Chimp" toy1 manufactured by the [REDACTED]. While their appearance is identical to that of the non-anomalous Musical Jolly Chimp, their sizes vary from each other to the extent of not exceeding those of the standard [REDACTED] model2, and their composition is entirely made up of the body tissue of a Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata). SCP-1566-JP instances do not have visceral structures, and their biological tissues do not show any signs of being responsive to external stimuli. The tissues that compose SCP-1566-JP instances remain fresh over time.

Although there are individual variations, all instances of SCP-1566-JP exhibit autonomous behavior along a certain cycle.

Average behavioral pattern of SCP-1566-JP:

Timeline (Japan Standard Time) Behavior of SCP-1566-JP
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays SCP-1566-JP instances begin cymbal banging activity. Except for the event around 12:00 AM, this action is constantly and continuously performed. During this activity, some instances secrete tear fluid of Japanese macaque (Macaca fuscata) from their eyeball parts.
12:00 AM to 1:00 PM on weekdays Several instances temporarily stop their activity. Instances that remain active increase their tear fluid secretion during this period.
6:00 PM on weekdays Most instances stop their motion within about 4 hours from this point.

It should be noted that not all instances of SCP-1566-JP follow the behavioral pattern described above. The start/end times of all behaviors are different for each instance; for example, SCP-1566-JP-4, -11, and -12 start their activities at 7:00 AM. It has also been observed that some instances engage in this behavior regardless of whether it is a weekday or a holiday. The instance that deviates the most from the basic behavioral pattern is SCP-1566-JP-16, which is active from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM the next day during weekdays. The Foundation has not succeeded in changing the time frame of this behavior through interference, nor has it been able to trigger/cancel the behavior itself.

It has been confirmed that SCP-1566-JP instances occasionally, completely independent of the time period, screech and secrete large amounts of tear fluid while banging the cymbals faster than usual. This behavior has been observed in four instances — SCP-1566-JP-3, -9, -15 and -19 — and lasts for an average of five minutes. The researchers have defined this behavior as the "frenzied state".

SCP-1566-JP was discovered randomly abandoned in Mount ██████ in the city of ███, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Although twenty-four instances were recovered, five of them were not operational, and did not display the same behavior as the others under any subsequent Foundation intervention. Since the biological tissues of these five instances were found to be decomposed unlike the other instances, they have been individually stored in specialized containers for decomposed materials.

Addendum-1: On 2017/██/██, SCP-1566-JP-2 permanently ceased its activity. In addition, five more instances became inactive within ██ days of this event; the number of SCP-1566-JP instances that remain active is currently thirteen. The neutralized instances has been stored in decomposed material containers due to decaying biological tissue. Notably, all of these instances continued to secrete tear fluid from the point of inactivation until their biological tissue was sufficiently decomposed.

Addendum-2: On 2017/██/██, SCP-1566-JP-12 spontaneously combusted following a minute of the "frenzied state" activity. It has been confirmed that a fire broke out in the city of ████████, Niigata Prefecture at the same time as this event, resulting in the death of ████ ████. While it is unclear whether the death of ████ ████ was related to the combustion of SCP-1566-JP-12, it has been revealed that his basic working hours roughly coincided with the active duration of SCP-1566-JP-12. Based on the approximate inactivation date and time of the neutralized instances, it has been investigated whether any corresponding events occurred or not, without any significant results so far. By the time of this writing, five other instances spontaneously became inactive; the number of instances that remain active is currently seven. The neutralized instances has been stored in decomposed material containers due to decaying biological tissue.

Addendum-3: On 2017/██/██, SCP-1566-JP-5 underwent structural failure after 2 seconds of the "frenzied state" activity, resulting in neutralizing itself. It has been confirmed that a vehicle accident occurred in the city of █████, Kumamoto Prefecture at the same time, resulting in the death of ███ ████████. His working hours roughly coincided with the active duration of SCP-1566-JP-5. While it has been increasingly suggested that each instance of SCP-1566-JP correlates with an existing individual, no event corresponding to the spontaneously neutralized instances has been identified. By the time of this writing, five other instances spontaneously became inactive; the number of instances that remain active is currently one. The neutralized instances has been stored in decomposed material containers due to decaying biological tissue.

Addendum-4: On 2017/██/██, all instances ceased activity and after ██ days of observation, SCP-1566-JP was reclassified as Neutralized. While the individuals corresponding to SCP-1566-JP-5 and -12 have been identified, it has proven difficult to locate those with connections to all other instances of SCP-1566-JP.
