Special Containment Procedures: SCP-198-IT is housed in one of the artificial ponds located in Natural Area C4 of Site Cerere. To ensure the anomaly’s well-being, six non-anomalous specimens of the same species — three of which are female — have been introduced in the enclosure.

Class C personnel assigned to SCP-198-IT maintenance are advised to keep a distance of several meters from the entity to avoid provoking hostile behavior and to maintain eye contact if threatened. In such cases, the use of designated repellents is authorized.

Description: SCP-198-IT is an adult male specimen of Mareca strepera, commonly known as a gadwall, a species within the Anatidae family.

The animal exhibits a thaumaturgic genetic mutation that has caused an abnormal enlargement of the penis and testicles, the anatomy of which, however, resembles that of a human. The organ remains in a constant state of erection; nevertheless, SCP-198-IT has been confirmed sterile following hormonal testing and analysis.

SCP-198-IT is extremely aggressive toward humans.

Discovery: SCP-198-IT was discovered on 08/25/2023 near Nx-55 “Benevento Vecchia.” According to eyewitnesses, the entity appeared abruptly before attacking a passerby, Lina Angelo, a 68-year-old retiree, who subsequently lost consciousness due to fear. Upon receiving the reports, the dispatched team contained the entity shortly thereafter using tranquilizers.

A few hours after SCP-198-IT was contained, the individual responsible for the event voluntarily turned himself in to Foundation agents, who at the time were undercover as gendarmes and conducting interviews with witnesses. The individual turned over an artifact which appears to be a grimoire. He was later identified as Gioele Catalano, 12 years old, son of PoI-15478 Renato Catalano, a known member of GoI-024-IT “Conjoined of Acqua-Luna.”

P: Good evening, Gioele. Sorry for the wait.

C: Please, help me.

P: Well, that’s what you kept repeating to our agents, but you didn't say anything else. What do you need help with?

(The subject blushes visibly and lowers his gaze.)

C: I, the book. I just wanted to have fun with my friends. I didn’t mean to.

P: Let’s talk about the book, then. Where did you get it?

C: It was my father’s. I only borrowed it. I was going to put it back, I swear.

P: Do you know where your father is now? If you gave us that information it would help a lot, and we might be able to overlook what you did.

(The subject suddenly appears frightened.)

C: My father? No, no. I wasn’t supposed to take it. It’s his. If he saw me, I don’t know what he’d do.

P: There's no need to worry about that. We’re here to protect you.

C: Really?

P: Of course. But you need to help us first. When our personnel opened the book, the words started to mix, making it impossible to read. Do you know why?

C: It's my family's property. If you're not part of the family, you can't use it. My dad said so. You can try, but it won’t work. My dad’s the best sorcerer in town. His spells can’t-

P: Gioele, are you okay?

C: My friends always make fun of me. I’m awful at magic. My dad and my brother are really good, but I’m just a failure. So I thought, what if I showed them what I can do? It was an harmless idea, a bit of trouble to make my friends laugh. You know the legend, right?¹ Around here, it’s kind of famous. It would’ve cracked everyone up. And maybe they’d stop mocking me.
