Foundation webcrawlers must constantly monitor the internet for new manifestations of SCP-242-DE, examine upon the discovery of signs pointing towards a new manifestation and record them within document 242-DE Dream Diary. Further action or amnesticization of affected persons has been prohibited due to the injury to afflicted subjects and counter-productivity for tracking them down.
As SCP-242-DE frequently nests inside the minds of employees by nature, a data sheet has been written about SCP-242-DE, which has been sent to all Foundation branches and depicts both the detection as well the handling in case of an infestation. Foundation personnel which has been infested by SCP-242-DE must immediately report to the psychological wing of their respective site. Infested personnel will be classified as E-class personnel for the duration of the infestation and exempted from duty.
Description: SCP-242-DE is a parasitic entity which nests within a person's mind. It appears within the memories and dreams of a person in form of a white, very pale girl with black hair. On average, SCP-242-DE infests the mind of a person for three (3) to four (4) weeks and seems to feed off the person's emotions and energy1 during this time period. The affected person usually suffers from the following symptoms during this time: Insomnia, increased tension, intense irritability, anxiety disorders, severe signs of sleep deprivation, narcolepsy, lacking empathy, strong hatred towards family members and friends, the emergence of several severe psychological ailments of any kind, development of homicidal tendencies, development of cannibalistic tendencies, development of suicidal tendencies.
Not much is known about the nature of SCP-242-DE, so whether the occurring symptoms are intentional or merely an unwanted side-effect is unclear. Documents provided by the Vatican from the year 18██ suggest that SCP-242-DE is Elizabeth ██████████, who perished during a house fire.

SCP-242-DE chooses its hosts seemingly at random. If possible, SCP-242-DE infests a host who is quite emotional and lives a difficult life according to social norm. Thus, the chance of SCP-242-DE infestation is higher by ██ % in subjects with the following features, than in those not featuring such properties: upbringing in poverty, the absence of one or two parents, the subject fell victim to abuse and/or raping, subject suffers from mental illnesses, subject received multiple traumas in its childhood, subject is under constant immense stress, subject is a notorious loner, subject is/was being bullied.
The new host always shares at least one memory with the previous victim that, however, must have not been of great significance and can range from a simple encounter or conversation to memories of a joint marriage, which makes predicting the manifestation of SCP-242-DE consistently impossible.
