Special Containment Procedures: Holotype specimens of SCP-2870-JP are to be kept in Site-8102's specimen vault. Except for experiment, SCP-2870-JP and SCP-2870-JP-A are to be managed in an area where intrusion by Ectomorphs is impossible. After wild-growing SCP-2870-JP is collected from each collection location, appropriate numbers will be managed, and the rest will be disposed of according to general plant sample disposal protocols. The containment team is to disseminate information to the general public that SCP-2870-JP is extinct, and replace the SCP-2870-JP part in existing publications.

Description: SCP-2870-JP is a perennial plant known as Lilium lily (Lilium kibuki)¹. SCP-2870-JP is distributed in the Okinawa Islands and grows naturally in relatively dark environments such as forests.

SCP-2870-JP is an anomaly that transforms a Class-B Ectomorph² into an entity that has agency. (This phenomenon is hereinafter referred to as "materialization"). This abnormality occurs when the spiritual entity inhales volatile substances (designated as SCP-2870-JP-A) secreted from SCP-2870-JP's nectary glands. Normally, Class-B Ectomorphs do not have any agency, but if the ectomorph takes the action which it bring its face close to a flower and smell its scent, the substance will be absorbed by the spiritual entity without any problem. The duration of materialization increases in proportion to the amount of SCP-2870-JP-A inhaled, but it reaches the upper limit in about 6 hours and will not continue any longer.³. It is unknown by what mechanism SCP-2870-JP-A is involved in the "materialization" of ectomorph.

SCP-2870-JP was investigated and found to be abnormal due to the significant number of appearances of an ectomorph with agency near its colony and incidents related to it. Colonies of SCP-2870-JP are often seen in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa, where SCP-2870-JP is widely distributed, and the custom of placing SCP-2870-JP in front of graves remains, mainly in those areas. In addition to this, there are many folk tales in the area such as "a dead person appeared with SCP-2870-JP flowers," so it is estimated that the properties of SCP-2870-JP were known empirically. In these areas, SCP-2870-JP is worshiped as helping those who have died with regrets to reunite and attain Buddhahood, therefore many SCP-2870-JP plants are planted in private houses, roadsides, and fields.⁴.

Addendum: As a result of detailed physiological traits research conducted by the Foundation, it was discovered that SCP-2870-JP's bulbs contain a substance with abnormal properties. The bulbs of SCP-2870-JP contain several types of non-protein amino acids and glycoproteins,⁵ and can cause toxic symptoms if ingested over a long period of time. Among these substances, substances classified as SCP-2870-JP-B group function as neurotransmitters in the central nervous system after destroying the addict's blood-brain barrier function in the final stage of poisoning. Due to this effect, the subject will feel intense affection towards close relatives, spouses, and friends.⁶. Addicts will die within a few days if proper treatment is not taken⁷, however, if the subject ingests more than a certain amount of SCP-2870-JP-B group, excessive generation of spiritual elements and a three-dimensional image projection occur when they die, causing the subject to become a Ectomorph. The SCP-2870-JP-B group has been found to be involved in ectomorphic transformation that maintains a high level of personality and memory during life, but the detailed process has not been elucidated.

The Foundation's anomalous plant research team speculates that SCP-2870-JP evolved the above two anomalous properties for reproduction. When an ectomorph brings its face close to a flower to inhale SCP-2870-JP-A, the stamens extending from the flower will come into contact with the subject's face (often the nose). As a result, the materialized ectomorph will have SCP-2870-JP pollen on its face, and will transmit the pollen by re-inhaling SCP-2870-JP-A with another entity. Additionally, SCP-2870-JP-A is actively secreted mainly from evening to night⁸. The amount of SCP-2870-JP-A secreted differs depending on the entity, and some entities do not secrete it at all, it is believed that this mean have a stimulating effect that ectomorphs will visit more SCP-2870-JP entities. In addition, the increase in affection and spiritualization by the SCP-2870-JP-B group, besides the production of ectomorphs, induce a strong motivation to materializes by using SCP-2870-JP to "reunite with the person who has become the subject of affection."

From the above, it has been suggested that while SCP-2870-JP uses ectomorphs as pollinators, it reproduces advantageously by producing ectomorphs that act as pollinators.
