Item #: SCP-355-DE
Object Class: Euclid Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: The remains of SCP-355-DE are to be stored inside a secure locker within the sector for neutralized anomalies in Site-DE4.
Description: SCP-355-DE designates an analogue non-electrical alarm clock with a purple coloration and yellow imprinted stars on its body. A small golden bell is situated at the back on which the wooden stick attached at the top falls and thus produces a sound. The dial displays Roman numerals from I to XII as well as three clock hands in the style of those from Victorian times.
The anomalous effect of the object only comes into force when a human subject places it in a five meter radius around his bed, sets a time for the alarm to go off1 and goes to sleep during that night. At this point, the subject will experience a lucid dream (SCP-355-DE-1) in which it traverses a world seemingly devoid of humans. A dark-blue fog is always reported as well. The subject's clothing will always equal their preferred outfit, independent from their current attire, while all objects worn by the subject at the time of falling asleep are also present within SCP-355-DE-1, but do not retain any changes created inside SCP-355-DE-1 within base reality. Neither hunger, nor thirst or fatigue seem to exist in SCP-355-DE-1. After waking up, which can only be initiated by the toll of SCP-355-DE, subjects feel very relaxed and mentally carefree for two to three hours, before negative psychological ailments manifest.
Repeated and prolonged exposure to the effects of SCP-355-DE leads to different psychological issues, including a withdraw from society, misanthropy2, depression, depersonalization and derealisation. Staying mainly indoors leads often leads to a vitamin D deficiency, mal- or supernutrition and a worsening of the aforementioned psychological conditions.3 Without intervention, cases can end in suicide, but subjects seem to develop a kind of addiction to SCP-355-DE, as they state "it is the only thing bringing them pleasure now". During an unrestricted occupation of SCP-355-DE-1, neither the positive nor negative effects have an impact on the subject, but all psychological problems they already showed beforehand.
PoI-355-DE is a middle-aged woman named Henriette Tracht who inhabits SCP-355-DE-1. She has long, straight dark-brown hair, a light skin color and is around 1.80 meter tall. Her clothing consists of a wide dark-green jacket, grey jeans and black boots. Moreover, she seems to have developed a post-traumatic stress disorder and thus misanthropic views, which is why she behaves rather dismissive of social interactions.
Discovery: SCP-355-DE was discovered in the village [REDACTED] within the house of Ms. Tracht who, according to residents, had not been seen for a week. Police officials found her dead inside her bedroom and the cause of death was revealed to have been dehydration. In the nights thereafter, some residents reported to have been visited by Ms. Tracht within a dream featuring blue fog. Then the Foundation became attentive of the events and an investigation began, according to which Ms. Tracht was last seen alive in an antique shop buying an alarm clock. Interviews with the store owner revealed that he had no knowledge of the anomalous properties. Following an amnestizaton of the store owner, the object was seized within her bedroom and its anomalous properties confirmed.
