Item #: SCP-826-KO

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-826-KO-A is classified as an endangered species by the World Wildlife Federation and multiple government agencies. The Foundation has manipulated its taxonomic and genome information and is to spread disinformation via Foundation biologists. Foundation crawlers are to search research papers for researches regarding SCP-826-KO-a, -b, or -A, which are to be manipulated and have their researchers amnesticised when necessary.

All wild instances are to be retrieved. Captive instances are to be contained in an adequately sized tank per the standard containment protocol for piscine species. Breeding SCP-826-KO-aa instances is to be done under an authorization over Class-3 to maintain the population to a certain level. Mating two SCP-826-KO-ab instances or involving humans for mating is to be done only for research purposes under the authorization of the Ethics Committee. SCP-826-KO-B instances born by the experiment are to be consigned to education facilities of School corporation Prichard Gakuin.

Personal data of all SCP-826-KO-B individuals is to be logged on the Foundation database for surveillance. Stronger security measures are to be implemented to individuals who are pregnant or impregnated their spouse. Disinformation regarding "piscinomorphic ovary tumours" have been spread, and a proxy organization providing aid to the mentioned disease is being founded for ease of executing security measures. If SCP-826-KO-A instances are born or surgically extracted outside the Foundation, amnestics are to be administered to related individuals. It is recommended that the said instance is to be transported to the Foundation alive.

Description: SCP-826-KO is a colloquial designation for a set of alleles of the species Homo sapiens for a phenotype of said species, and individuals who have said alleles. The alleles are designated as SCP-826-KO-a and SCP-826-KO-b. Individuals that show SCP-826-KO-a's phenotypes are designated as SCP-826-KO-A. Wild-type carriers of -a and -b alleles are designated SCP-826-KO-B. Wild alleles are marked as w. Heterozygous carriers of -w and -a are designated SCP-826-KO-wa or -wa for ease of recording.

-w, -a, and -b alleles have a set rule of dominance to each other. The wild allele is dominant over -a and -b, while the -a allele is dominant to -b.

SCP-826-KO-B shows no difference to a non-anomalous human, besides that it carries -a and -b alleles. On the other hand, SCP-826-KO-A is anatomically and visually identical to fish and does not show any human traits. SCP-826-KO-A are ovoviviparous1 cartilaginous fish. Adults are about one metre long and do not show any signs of higher intelligence. A series of tests concluded that the subject has intellectual capabilities slightly higher than other fish species.

SCP-826-KO-B and even SCP-826-KO-A can mate with humans as it shares the same genome. -A and -B instances born this way are also fertile, leading them to be classified as Homo Sapiens. Regarding their reproduction, noteworthy cases include SCP-826-KO-A conceiving SCP-826-KO-B, and SCP-826-KO-B conceiving SCP-826-KO-A.

SCP-826-KO-A conceives SCP-826-KO-B typically when two -ab individuals mate. Tests have shown that injecting the sperm of wild-type humans or SCP-826-KO-B yield the same results.

Eighteen weeks after SCP-826-KO-B's conception by -A, the mother lays the egg and attaches it to its territory. For about 22 weeks, it provides nourishment to the foetus, where about one-fourth of all foetuses successfully undergo growth. After a successful growth, the mother detaches and pulls the egg onto the surface. The egg can then hatch if necessary measures are taken within 30 minutes. There are ██ reported cases of such eggs since its initial discovery. No health or developmental problems arose from -B individuals born this way.

SCP-826-KO-B conceiving SCP-826-KO-A typically happens when two SCP-826-KO-B individuals mate. Tests have shown that injecting SCP-826-KO-A's sperms into SCP-826-KO-B yields the same result.

When SCP-826-KO-B conceives SCP-826-KO-B, the -A foetus can grow up to 30 centimetres during pregnancy and can be distinguished to a regular human foetus by ultrasonic scanning. The abdomen of the SCP-826-KO-B individual is indistinguishable from a regular pregnant woman's. About 90% of all pregnant SCP-826-KO-A individuals successfully grow and are born normally. SCP-826-KO-A directly after birth have shown signs of active movement.

SCP-826-KO's origin is unclear, but DNA forensics of the remains of its instances shows that the anomaly has existed as early as at least the 18th century. It is also confirmed that the myths and stories from various cultures suggest SCP-826-KO's existence, uncovered by the currently ongoing research of the Foundation Anthropology Department.

Discovery: SCP-826-KO's containment procedures were established following four incidents. -A was first discovered at ██/██/████ in ██████ Maternity. The Foundation considered this to be an isolated extranormal event and administered amnestics to the related. However, the initial incident was reclassified as an SCP incident after two similar incidents in the next ten years. At ██/██/████, the Foundation discovered a wild SCP-826-KO-A instance which triggered broadscale biological research. Following this, current containment protocols are established.

Addendum 1: Proposal to use lab-bred SCP-826-KO-B individuals to replace "Mercy International Adoption Services". Currently pending approval of the O5 council and the Ethics Committee.
