Special Containment Procedures: As the object does not pose a subjective danger, it has been stored in a locker in Site-CN-██. Access to SCP-CN-2880 requires Level 3 or higher clearance.

Description: SCP-CN-2880 is a 153 cm long claymore weighing 2.5 kg. The object was retrieved during a raid on an MC&D warehouse. The sword does not possess any legible inscriptions. When its anomalous effects are not active, the object's physical properties are no different from those of non-anomalous swords.

SCP-CN-2880

When a clear-minded non-anomalous human holds the sword with their hands, the anomalous effect will be activated. At this point, the blade of the sword will take on an abnormally high degree of sharpness.

During initial testing, personnel wielding the sword were able to cut through various objects¹.

Of note is that when the object meets a material that an identical non-anomalous claymore would be unable to cut, or a material possessing anomalous properties that allow it to withstand damage, the process of cutting using SCP-CN-2880 is described as "slow but steady". It appears that this process occurs as soon as the blade touches the object to be cut, and does not require additional strength from the person wielding the object.

Based on experimental data, the time taken to cut through an object is proportional to its hardness.

……Regardless of what it can do, this is just a very sharp claymore. It was bought from an old lady in a shitty pub in [REDACTED]. She was carrying a child, wearing a tattered cloak, probably because her husband had left her and taken the money. Not uncommon in those shitholes. That shabby, washed up lady didn't look like the type to use a sword of all things, so I guess she probably stole it. I can't figure out how the hell this thing works. The evaluation team brought a bunch of bigwigs and screwed about for god knows how long, but still couldn't tell me what it was, only some mumbo jumbo about "concepts". Bloody useless. I'll just leave it here. It's not like I wasted any money on it, and having it around to cut firewood or something is still better than nothing.

Update on Anomalous Properties

Accumulated testing data has led to the discovery that when SCP-CN-2880 cuts the same type of material in succession, its cutting ability increases. If the same material is cut several times, its cutting efficiency is visibly improved.

Further experimental data shows that this "effectiveness growth" is related to the material existence of the cut object. It is thought that harder objects induce less growth.

Incident Log 0308-α

During a session of testing on ████-03-08, SCP-CN-2880 was observed to have developed a secondary anomalous effect, manifesting as the blade of the object producing an optical effect when the object is held. This has been recorded as SCP-CN-2880-α.

SCP-CN-2880-α currently manifests within 3 cm of the surface of the blade; its effect is similar to certain "filters". When viewing objects through a region affected by SCP-CN-2880-α, personnel reported that the area behind the region was "warped", "abnormal", or "unsettling". If SCP-CN-2880 is swung slowly, SCP-CN-2880-α's area of effect will diffuse along the blade's path of movement.

SCP-CN-2880-α cannot be recorded normally by optical instruments. The following is a textual description of the testing results.

Observation Subject	Observation Result
Standard Foundation office desk	A table-shaped object composed of organic tissue, identical in silhouette to the original object and covered in a purplish-green glowing membrane. During observation, the object continuously pulsated and released a light green gas. It is likely that this is a living organism.
Test chamber in Site-CN-██, Sector ██	The interior walls and floor of the chamber were covered in an organic substance. All objects in the room were similarly composed of organic material, including the office desk in the previous test. Blood vessels were observed to be evenly distributed throughout the surfaces in the room.
D-129238	A humanoid organism similar in shape to the Class D observed, with a purplish-red body. No skin or hair was observed. Twelve organs similar to "eyes" were observed on its abdomen, and its face was covered in multiple slanting slits. The organism's entire body was covered in ulcers, disfigurations and cancerous growths. All openings in its body were constantly secreting a reddish-brown liquid2. Attached to the organism's head were tubular organs leading outside of the testing chamber.
Level 3 Researcher Wang ████████	Similar results to D-129238. Of note is that the tubular organs leading out of the chamber were also observed attached to the head.
Natural environment outside the testing chamber window	Plants appeared to be composed of various organic tissues growing out of the ground by an unknown method, thought to be living. When the plants were blown by the wind, these organic tissues similarly moved. Distant mountains appeared to be giant lumps of pulsating tumorous tissue. Blood vessels were seen on all visible objects.
Site-CN-██ structure	The entirety of Site-CN-██ appeared as a large clump of biological tissue; the structure was entirely composed of organic material. As with previous tests, blood vessels were placed on all visible surfaces. A roughly spherical organism similar in size to Site-CN-██ was seen floating approximately 40 m above the structure, with the tubular structures connected to the previously seen humanoids' heads seemingly connected to it.

Currently, the reason for SCP-CN-2880-α's occurrence is unknown.

Incident Log 0312

At 06:10 AM on ████-03-12, Site-CN-██ suffered a severe containment breach. A group of Chaos Insurgency militants organized a raid on the Site; during the ensuing chaos, one attacker, a reality-warper³ lost control of his abilities and caused a large-scale visual illusion effect, causing a series of containment breaches.

During this incident, Level 3 Researcher Wang ████████ used his credentials to retrieve SCP-CN-2880 from its Safe-class containment locker and use it for self-defense.

However, while Wang ████████ was holding SCP-CN-2880, the object was able to "cut" through the illusion. As Wang ████████ moved, the visual illusion was "cut open" by SCP-CN-2880's blade, and slowly lost its objective effect. After discovering this phenomenon, Wang ████████ took action, eventually eliminating the illusion effect. This was deemed to be a significant contribution to Foundation efforts in this incident.

Following this, Researcher Wang ████████ was praised and received a promotion.

Update on Anomalous Properties 0610-α

During a series of tests on ████-06-10, it was determined that SCP-CN-2880-α's area of effect had grown. As of this recording, its volume of effect has grown by a factor of roughly 3.

Further suppression measures are currently being researched.

Incident Log 0613

At ██:██ am on ████-06-13, Level 4 Researcher Wang ████████ was discovered in Site-CN-██'s Safe-class containment locker area having lost all vital signs. The corpse did not appear to have any wounds; autopsy revealed the cause of death to be caused by severe neurological disorders and related biological effect, such as shock.

SCP-CN-2880 was found next to the corpse. Security footage showed that after Wang ████████ used his credentials to retrieve SCP-CN-2880, he swung the blade above his head and immediately fell to the ground and lost all vital signs.

Further investigation is ongoing. Level 4 Researcher Wang ████████'s clearance has been revoked.
