SCP-CN-3513

SCP-CN-3513 ❰❰❰❰ 4/CN-3513
⬛︎ Object Class: Thaumiel Assigned Site: Site-418-α

Special Containment Procedures

SCP-CN-3513's IP address has been inserted into Mojang's global server blacklist, making it inaccessible using a standard Minecraft client. Foundation webcrawler IO-WARDEN-47 is assigned to search for and delete relevant information on the anomaly outside the Veil.

Site-418-α, located within the gameworld of SCP-CN-3513, is responsible for the OPERATOR Protocol. Members from Mobile Task Forces Edna-84 ("And Thus Upon His Crucible") and 丙寅-12 ("Player One") are to guard the Site.

Personnel logging into SCP-CN-3513 are to use a client equipped with a memetic hazard blocking system, and are to have undergone Level IV memetic resistance training prior to connecting.

Description

SCP-CN-3513 is a Minecraft server; its IP address is located in a reserved range. This IP address functions normally except when connected to on port 25565.

SCP-CN-3513 is an "anarchy" server. Since the Foundation established a presence on the server, no trace of any server administrators or moderators exist. As SCP-CN-3513 has had an active playerbase consisting of members of the anomalous community, including Groups of Interest, the areas around the spawn have been heavily defaced, and many areas contain "map art" depicting memetic hazards1

Due to the long-term frequent use of anomalous techniques on the server, the ontological structure of the anomaly's virtual space (i.e. the game world) has diverged from the model defined by the Minecraft server and client software. The Deduction Department's analysis indicates that this virtual space has already generated a narrative independent from other Minecraft worlds. Based on the Gaming Department's theory of interactive media narrativistics2, SCP-CN-3513 is essentially its own region of reality, accessible only through the Minecraft client.

SCP-CN-3513 has a low ambient Hume level3, which allows players to use specialized means to:

  • Obtain items and blocks not present in the original game;
  • Perform actions not possible in the original game, such as teleportation to any location, performing kinetoglyphs, etc.;
  • Transfer items and characters from other games into SCP-CN-3513.

The initial exploration team has used "Mudscipper", a thaumically protected client developed by the Division of Anomalous Programming, to explore a 35,000 m × 35,000 m region around the spawn point. Most areas are filled with player-made structures, of which the majority have been destroyed. The exploration team described the environment as "more hostile than 2b2t".

In order to more effectively control SCP-CN-3513, the Minecraft Division has carried out long-term information suppression, which has led to the average player count of SCP-CN-3513 being reduced to 64.

Addendum CN-3513.I:Project OPERATOR

Gaming Department Internal DocumentLast updated: 2018/07/21
Project OPERATOR

Leader: Dr. Henry Friedman

Status: ⬛︎ Complete

Overview: SCP-CN-3513's special ontological laws and low ambient Hume level makes it an excellent transfer station between baseline reality and virtual space. Anomalous Minecraft communities have already developed a fully functional inter-server transfer ritual5. Anomalies that are hard to contain in the real world can be transferred to SCP-CN-3513, and then reliably transferred to other virtual spaces for containment. The only missing piece is the segment between the real world and SCP-CN-3513. As such, this project's primary objective is to develop a method of transferring objects in the real world to a fixed location in SCP-CN-3513.

In addition to the above requirement, the OPERATOR Project also requires a virtual facility as the target destination of the transfer ritual. This Site needs at the least a strong security system and a single sufficiently large containment chamber. The Site will be designated Site-4186.

UPDATE 2018/07/21: Project OPERATOR has concluded successfully. Personnel who wish to use the OPERATOR Protocol in containment reforms may submit a request to Dr. Friedman. SCP-CN-3513 has been reclassified Thaumiel.

Addendum CN-3513.II: Founding of the Minecraft Division

Dr. Friedman:

I have seen SCP-CN-3513's report. This server typically has 500 players online at the same time, which indicates that the anomalous activity surrounding Minecraft may be a lot more prevalent than we thought. Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time, after all, so I think we should pay it a bit more attention.

I am considering establishing a subdivision entirely dedicated to Minecraft-related anomalies. Your Site-418 can be under the Minecraft Division.

And if you want, I can make you the director of this division.

Director Katsurou:

That would be great.

The anomalous activity in the Minecraft community is certainly more than we initially imagined. During Project OPERATOR, I noticed mentions of "Letters Network" in the chat. We investigated and discovered that it has over 70,000 concurrent players. I don't know how we missed such a large anomalous server, but that means that we definitely need to pay more attention to the Minecraft community.

Dr. Friedman:

I have already invited some interested personnel. You should already recognize most of them, but I want to mention Dr. Makimiya. Even though she didn't participate in Project OPERATOR, she deeply understands the situation in the Minecraft community. I hope her expertise will be of help.

Another thing: All important personnel of the Gaming Department are required to maintain a presence at Site-79. Of course, as a subdivision head, you'll be important, so I need you to come over to Japan. Don't worry, Site-79 is still a Main Foundation site, so everyone here can speak English with you.

That's fine with me. You'll come to pick me up at Haneda, right?
