Special Containment Procedures: All civilians who have been affected by or witnessed the effects of SCP-CN-529 are to be amnesticized and returned to their homes. MTF-庚午-01 "Only Fragrance" has been assigned to various commonly affected shopping districts and are to rapidly evacuate all shoppers in the event that SCP-CN-529 comes into effect.

Continued investigation into PoI-69529, discovered during the events of Incident Log 529-h, is underway.

Description: SCP-CN-529 is a sporadically occurring anomalous phenomenon occurring in various shopping centers in the city center of Shanghai, lasting between 7 days and over 3 months. The circular radius of the anomaly extends from the center of the shopping center to the main entrance of the building.

Within SCP-CN-529's area of effect, short positive phrases in daily conversation, writing and typing (e.g. "Thank you", "I love you") lose any sections in the accusative case; attempts to vocalize these sentences will only produce the "Thank" or "I love" sections, and not the "you" afterward.

This effect is not only limited to Chinese, but has been shown to affect Chinese, English, French, German, and [REDACTED] more languages, including the [REDACTED] language recently deciphered by the Foundation. The effect typically occurs on Sundays at 6 p.m. in commercial areas, and lasts for exactly two hours.

Following the events in Incident Log 529-h, the anomaly has not been reported for 3 months. A proposal to reclassify it as Neutralized is currently under review.

Preface: On 20██/█/█, the anomalous effects were first discovered in Shanghai's Pacific Department Store. Ten minutes after the store was evacuated and all people within were amnesticized, Agent Nobel of MTF-庚午-01 "Sole Fragrance in the Darkness" was deployed to investigate SCP-CN-529's anomalous properties.

Agent Nobel: I'm at the entrance; it's very rare to see an empty shopping center on a Sunday evening.

Dr. Hannah: Shall we begin?

Agent Nobel: Thank you.

Agent Nobel steps through the main entrance of the shopping center.

Agent Nobel: Thank— whoa, I really can't say it.

Dr. Hannah: What kind of feeling is it?

Agent Nobel: I feel like I'm saying it, my vocal cords are moving, but there's no sound coming out.

Dr. Hannah: Try writing it down?

Agent Nobel takes out pen and paper and writes "Thank" on the paper, but is unable to write "you" after it. No mark or even imprint is left on the paper.

Agent Nobel: I'll just draw a turtle, then.

Dr. Hannah: Please be serious, Nobel.

Agent Nobel: Now what's next?

Dr. Hannah: Walk forward, so we know the range of the anomaly, and try various other languages.

Agent Nobel: Okay. 谢谢Thank— (silence), 我爱I love— (silence), 我操你妈个fuck your mother in the— oh, sorry.

Dr. Hannah: Okay, that confirms that the accusative in a negative sentence is unaffected. Go on.

Agent Nobel: (walking forward) Ich liebe— (silence)¹, Je— (silence) —aime². There's no way!

Dr. Hannah: An anomalous poet… very possible, but I think it's more than just these, these missing accusatives must be directed at something.

Dr. Hannah: Well, the criteria for the the anomaly have roughly been understood. Your work is done.

Incident Log 529-h: On 2017/5/26, a pillar of light appeared over Block 12 of ██████ Estate, Shanghai, containing phrases such as "Thank you", "I love you", and "I miss you" in various languages and shining into the bedroom of unit ██. The only occupant of the room at the time was a sleeping 12-year-old girl. The pillar of light appeared for 7 seconds. All witnesses were amnesticized.

Investigation failed to reveal the whereabouts of the child's father, who has been designated PoI-69529 and is being tracked down.

Interviews with the girl revealed that she had heard the following in her dream:

The mountains have their own magnificent beauty, but like a gap in the sky, they send all their good word to you. Don't be afraid, I will soon line the heavens and the earth. My life is eternal.
