An artistic representation of SCP-ES-046. Photographic capture is unfeasable.
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the apparent intangibility of SCP-ES-046 instances, all physical containment efforts have been discarded. The means employed for this goal, as well as personnel assigned to the project, must be dedicated to and specialized in the containment of media-borne infohazardous anomalies. Every external research to this directive is categorically banned, due to the manifest risk of cross-contamination.
All information resulting from research of this kind will be seized and destroyed inmediately. Involved personnel members will be appropriately sanctioned and amnesticized, in accordance to their degree of responsibility.
Each researcher assigned to the SCP-ES-046 containment project must undergo at least two monthly psychological evaluations1, to ensure that their stress levels remain stable. In the case of a personnel member involuntarily experiencing/suffering/visualizing a natural or manmade disaster, they must appear in person in their main Administrative Headquarters within 36 hours. The infohazardous quarantine protocol will be informed opportunely.
Voluntarily experimenting/suffering/visualizing any natural or manmade catastrophe will be considered as an investigation alien to the prescribed ES-046's work directives. Researchers are encouraged to stay within the limits defined by the Experience Restrictions Manual IVth Edition.
Description: Potentialy infinite group of spherical entities, of wrinkled surface and partially rippling prima facie . SCP-ES-046 instances are similar, in appearance, to a human eye2. They nonetheless present exceptional variations: the instances' iris is, generally, of a primary color (red, yellow or blue), while its size varies from 15 to 30 cm in diameter. It is unknown if they keep the same similarity with the human eye in their inner structure, as material manipulation of any instance is impossible since they are intangible entities.
The object can accelerate to undetermined speeds, although it has showed predilection to get around in an unhurried manner.
Although SCP-ES-046 apparently lacks senses other than eyesight, it has been proven that it is possible to dialogue with the anomaly by means of morse code, thanks to the object's ability to voluntarily change its iris colour. The entirety of the interviewed instances are able to communicate in at least 8 languages; among those: Spanish, English, Polish, Russian and German.
The information exchange with ES-046 is basically indistinct and superflous. Attached below are examples of messages by different instances of the anomaly:
- .-. .. ... - . / .--. .- --.. .-.-.
sad peace.3
-.-. .. . .-.. --- / .... . .-. -- --- ... .- / -.-. .- .. -.. .- .-.-.
heaven beautiful fall.4
It must be noted that grammatical variety is limited to the transmission of noun phrases with preceding adjectives, bearing a poor semantic depth. The Finance Department assigned to the project has determined that comunication with ES-046 does not justify the funds invested in conducting these experiments, so every scientific procedure of this kind has been closed down.
The only way to confirm the existence of an ES-046 instance is via direct observation. The anomaly posesses, moreover, a strong antimemetic component which allows it to be seen only by individuals with some kind of PTSD5 consequence of experimenting/suffering/visualizing some natural or manmade catastrophe. Although a considerable scientific margin to establish a pattern still exists, the instances have been fully identified during the course of events of the previously mentioned kind.
The project relative to ES-046 nowadays focuses its efforts in producing a therapeutic amnestic capable of reducing infohazardous effects of the anomaly and preserve normalcy.

pawel.journal.3345w.onion: For all those who are hearing me, my name is Pawel Adamik, permanent exchange researcher and SCP-ES-046's original file creator. I need to be heard urgently. My time is running out.
p.awel.22.quill.onion: I came to this Site transferrred from Poznań, Poland, after a pressurizer generated a chain reaction that made the main reactor of the nuclear Complex in which I worked explode. That day I lost everything. Absolutely everything. Nothing remains from me worth saving, except what I know about this anomaly and what you must know.
wellpa.1144444.onion: Nobody will show you this. The Foundation is colluded to its core. The amnestization campaign they set after the Poland disaster was excellent, I can assure you that. Nobody remembers what happened in Poznań, not the dead, not the injured, or the ones who survived and had to leave. Nobody remembers anything. Absolutely anything. There is nothing left to corroborate what I tell you so the only thing you've left is believing me. Please.
damik.damik.889.today.onion: But I have a recording of the day I told you about, three months ago. A recording which you can judge or share as you wish. All the truth is there. The Foundation is not what it says it is; it does not defend even their own interests. They have no ethics behind, just to make sure the performance goes on. They just hide of something bigger than all of us. And I assure you that we are mere extras in this theather they have made up. Cannon fodder. Sacrifices the Foundation delivers to them, those who run SCP-ES-046, to entertain them.
run.paw.778.yesterday.onion: I still don't know what the Foundation earns from this exchange. Maybe I will never know, neither anynone of you. But at least now you know the truth.
end.pawel.lena.onion: My time is out. I can't do anything anymore, but you can. It's time to act. Good luck.
HANDMADE TRANSCRIPTION.18.12.2010
[02:03]: The camera is filming from the floor. The cloud of smoke persists intensely; the only light source is an emergency sign that tints the room of red, and a destroyed large window which comunicates with the outside. A male figure crawls towards a pile of rubble and scrap metal. It looks like he has a broken leg.
[02:05]: Lena… [Coughs]. Lena, please. Lena, wake up. Lena! [Sobbing]. Lena, you have to wake up. We need to go, Lena. Shit! Lena…
[02:06]: The figure, distraught, turns violently to the large window.
[02:06]: What the fuck? Lena you have to see this. There are… eyes?… Did we keep anomalies in this facility? Lena, oh my God, it's dozens of them. Lena you have to stand up. We have to go, damn it!
[02:07]: The figure begins to go back to the rubble with difficulty.
[02:08]: They are getting closer. Shit, Lena, they are getting closer!
[02:08]: The figure takes a nearby metalic remain, and throws it while he covers the face with the other arm.
[02:09]: Go away! We don't have anything! If you need someone take me! Take me, get away from Lena, motherfuckers!
[02:09]: The figure crouches covering with both hands. They begin crying. During two minutes, it is the only sound heard. Then, the figure quickly recovers and takes another piece of concrete, to throw it with violence again.
[02:12]: Why the fuck are you still here?! Hey!… Lena, Lena you have to wake up now. They are still looking at us. Lena, we don't know what they can do to us. We have to go, Lena, for God's sake.
[02:13]: The figure tries to lift unsuccessfully a rubber pile. While at it, they abruptly stop, staring into space.
[02:14]: Lena… Lena I think that… Of course. Look. Their pupils change colour. Slowly, then quickly, then slowly. It's morse! Maybe they want to tell us something. Lena, maybe they can help us, maybe they don't want to harm us. Damnit, this floor is going to fall at any moment. Lena, give me a second.
[02:15]: Hey! Can you hear me?! Is that morse?! Can you help us?! I don't know how to translate morse! Tell me what you want to say in other way! Not in morse, shit!
[02:15]: The figure turns its gaze slowly to the mound of thrown papers among the remains of a closet.
[02:16]: Paper? Do you want me to note it? If that's what you want. Ok. Look, I can write it down, but you need to help us. We are in a floor that's about to collapse, we need them to know we are here. Please. We need to tell someone someway.
[INTERRUPTION ±15 minutes]
[02:31]: The figure holds the CCTV camera and shows a wrinkled paper containing 3 sentences in morse code. They hold the shot until the trasmission is cutted.
[02:31]: I'll discover what they want to tell me when I get out of this with Lena. Meanwhile, if someone sees this in the surveilance room, please, know that an anomaly escaped. And send help.

Addendum II.2011.03.18: Weekly research bulletin.
Gentlemen:
Permanent Exchange Researchers; Junior Researcher; Technical Research Junior Assistants; Containment Junior Assistant Tecnical; …; assigned to ES-046 project.
Communicating:
ZAKHARCHENKO Dimitri, Scientific Unity 46 Coordinator in Chief.
Good morning to everyone that has begun their day early, and still have found, very sadly, with another corrupted file in their closest access terminal. I extend you my most sincere apologies for the inconvenience, and I also inform you that we are already working side by side with RAISA to fix this unexpected event. As it has been told since the beggining, this file is still in constant maintenance, thanks to the diligent work of our team.
I understand you are looking for explainations, but I don't know much more than what you know: the subject who has been attacking our terminal knows too much about Tor and the Onion protocol to designate-itself as "Exchange Researcher" —and on top of that from Poznań, a place where the Foundation still has issues to digitalize the records due to the age of the city's archives—, who claims to have been a victim of an attack in a Nuclear Complex three months ago and talking with ES-046 there, and even worse, that we hide the nature of the anomaly.
Of course, this is not implausible except for the detail that there are only three Foundation nuclear Complexes in Poland, and the one in Poznań, precisely, has been closed for twenty years, since the USSR's dissolution. Let's suppoose this was a mistake, a confussion, let's give him the benefit of the doubt, but it does not exist (and he conveniently says it) register of this individual in our databases.
If that was not enough, the video he shows us is of a very low quality for a security recording –for SCP Foundation's standards—, and the conversation he claims to have —although we can barely distinguish the dots and lines in the burnt folder he shows— with the object is more pleasant than the ones we've had, working directly with the anomaly, in a lot of time. And let's not forget that he says being the one who made all the work, when I'm convinced that you have done everything in these two weeks.
I'd not say that the version he gives us is absolutely imposible, but it's pretty hard to belive him with the things we know and to think he's even one of us. At this point, I don't even discard that he is part of some of the hundreds of Groups of Interest focused in weakening the Veil we put so much effort into maintaining.
I know that deadlines are tight, and that it's just the beggining, but I wished to use this weekly space to encourage you to keep going, despite these dificulties, with the great work you do as a team. A team that I'm proud of leading. Your efforts to understand this anomaly which represents a dormant threat to normalcy —independently of Mr. Adamik's narrative—, will be properly rewarded when we have a sufficiently effective amnestic.
If you'll allow me the irony, everyone will have their eyes on us. Good start to the week.
