Truly, the less you speak, the better.

If that alone were enough to make you believe…

Overview

Do ya wanna read short articles?!

So let's write some and read some. Let's try to make the total character count as much as that of SCP-3000-JP alone.

Contest Schedule

Writing Period
3/20 (Mon) - 5/13 (Sat) 23:59 UTC+9

Posting Period
4/23 (Sun) 0:00 ~ 5/13(Sat) 23:59 UTC+9

Voting Period
5/14 (Sun) 0:00 ~ 6/03(Sat) 23:59 UTC+9

Rules

  • Submissions for this contest are limited to entries tagged "jp" and one of "scp", "goi-format" and "tale".
  • Character count limits are as follows:
Type Character count
SCP 2500 characters
GoI Format 5000 characters
Tale 2500 characters
  • Character count is based on the source code, and is measured using Wikidot's "size".
  • The use of images and format screws to reduce character count is forbidden.
  • You may post as many entries as you want.
  • Collaboration is OK.

During the posting period, there will be viewing restrictions on contest entries.. During this period, only staff and the original poster will be able to edit or view their entry. This restriction will be lifted at the beginning of the voting period. This is in order to remove the advantage gained by posting early.

Entry Rules

  • In addition to the standard posting rules, entries are to be posted into the "event" category with the filename "event:<appropriate name>". In addition, the tag "short2023" is to be added.
    • The "appropriate name" refers to the URL that your post will be in after the "event" tag is removed. For instance, if you're posting SCP-001-JP, you'll use the page name "event:scp-001-jp".
    • When you post to the "event" category, a placeholder will be created at the same page name in the default category. When the voting period starts, the pages will automatically be renamed. As such, people can't post to the same URL as the one reserved for your article.
      • Please check that the same URL in the default category is not already taken.
    • If you post to the wrong URL, delete that page and post it again to the correct URL and your entry will be accepted.
  • Articles submitted to the contest are to use the rating module with the credit box. Copy and paste the following code and change what you need.

[[include :scp-jp:credit:start]]
**タイトル:** Title
**著者:** [[*user Your username]]
**作成年:** 2023
[[include :scp-jp:credit:end]]

  • Entries are subject to the standard deletion process.
  • Comments other than licenses should be posted after the end of the posting period.
  • When linking on list pages, use the URL in the default category.
  • In addition to during the posting period, you may edit your submissions for the first week of the voting period.
  • If you create a page outside the posting period or make a large change outside the revision period, we reserve the right to revert your page or delete it entirely.
  • If you see a work that doesn't seem to follow the rules, inform the organizers ASAP.
  • For anything that isn't pointed out here, refer to the regular Site Rules and guidelines.
  • Even during the posting period when nobody can see your work, the "only finished, final work" rule applies.

The Prizes

The winners will be decided based on rating as of midnight JST on 2023/06/04. If two winning articles have the same rating, the one with less characters takes precedence. The winners will be marked on this hub at the end of the contest.

  • First Place: A special rating module with a gold trophy, and a one-month feature on the SCP-JP front page.
  • Second Place: A special rating module with a silver trophy.
