Accumulating SCP-2757-JP, observed in an alternate universe during a YK-class/End of the Universe scenario.

Item #: SCP-2757-JP

Object Class: Ticonderoga

Threat Level: White

Special Containment Procedures: Due to its nature being impossible to interfere with, containment of SCP-2757-JP is both infeasible and unnecessary.

Protocol Monopoly is currently ongoing under the initiative of the Anomalous Biology Department. Information related to the project is confidential in principle, and only those involved are to be granted Security Clearance Level 5/2757-JP.

Description: SCP-2757-JP is a conceptual substance that can be defined as "soul" of lifeforms. While direct interference with SCP-2757-JP is currently not possible, it can be observed through the use of conceptual engineering technologies.

All SCP-2757-JP instances are identical in nature, and any differences in personality or other factors seen between lifeforms are determined purely by their biological and external factors. However, it is presumed that inclusion of SCP-2757-JP is a prerequisite for a lifeform to become sentient. The amount of SCP-2757-JP required for a lifeform to possess sentience is proportional to its intelligence level; for example, the amount of SCP-2757-JP required for a human (Homo sapiens) is approximately 10^30 times that required for a common house mosquito (Culex pipiens).

The movement of SCP-2757-JP has a concentrated fluidity towards lifeforms. SCP-2757-JP is adrift in space when not contained within any lifeform; when a lifeform is formed, the necessary amount of SCP-2757-JP present in the surroundings flows into its body. After the influx, SCP-2757-JP is fixed inside the life form and is released into space upon its death. Within the observable range, the density of SCP-2757-JP in space is gradational with the Earth at the center, which indicates that the distribution of SCP-2757-JP is biased toward the places where lifeforms exist. However, SCP-2757-JP also flows into lifeforms in areas with little SCP-2757-JP surrounding them without any difficulty, as SCP-2757-JP is a conceptual substance and therefore its movement within the same universe is not physically limited.

The distribution range of SCP-2757-JP is estimated to encompass the entire universe. Since the range of SCP-2757-JP observation with current paratechnology is limited up to the Milky Way Galaxy region, it is impossible to fully understand the distribution pattern of SCP-2757-JP at present. However, on 2███/█/█, a joint team of the Hyperspace Department and the Conceptual Engineering Department successfully observed the accumulation and manifestation of all SCP-2757-JP instances in an alternative universe in which an extreme contraction of space occurred following the onset of a YK-class/End of the Universe scenario.

Since the above-mentioned observation experiment to date, the joint team has observed similar events in seventy-eight alternative universes. The primary findings from these observations include the following.

There is a finite amount of SCP-2757-JP in a single universe.

When a universe contracts and ceases to exist, SCP-2757-JP does not migrate to alternate universes, but disappears within its own universe.

The total amount of SCP-2757-JP among the approximate universes1 is roughly equal.

Based on these findings, the total amount of SCP-2757-JP in the baseline universe has also been estimated, albeit tentatively. The inferred values indicate that approximately 18% of SCP-2757-JP is present on the Earth in its natural state, and approximately 43% is located within the Milky Way Galaxy region.

In addition, the fact that SCP-2757-JP did not move to any alternative universe despite its directional fluidity in the cases of complete annihilation of lifeforms under YK-class/End of the Universe scenario suggests that SCP-2757-JP is not capable of inter-universe travel.

Addendum: Supplementary Material on Protocol Monopoly

To exploit the finiteness of SCP-2757-JP described above, Protocol Monopoly is currently ongoing under the initiative of the Anomalous Biology Department.

AO-300 cultivation cells.

Abstract: The objective of this protocol is to exploit the finiteness of SCP-2757-JP to permanently prevent the emergence of extraterrestrial intelligent civilizations.

It should be noted that, it is presumed that there are no intelligent civilizations above the level of human civilization in the baseline universe as of writing. This is based on the following.

Assuming that the fact that nearly half of SCP-2757-JP in the baseline universe is concentrated in the Milky Way Galaxy region is due to the unique directionality of SCP-2757-JP, the Milky Way Galaxy is presumed to be the galaxy hosting the largest amount of SCP-2757-JP.

The fact that SCP-2757-JP in the Milky Way Galaxy region is densely concentrated in a gradational pattern with the Earth at the center suggests that there is no intelligent civilization beyond the human civilization level even in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Protocol Monopoly is executed through the use of Designated Useful Anomalous Organism AO-300, which was developed by the Anomalous Biology Department. More than 90% of AO-300's body is composed of brain tissue and it has an extremely high neuronal density. While this allows AO-300 to have an information processing capacity equivalent to approximately 10^18 times that of a human, it must be constantly maintained in a cultivation cell due to its underdeveloped non-brain tissues. AO-300 also lacks the ability to process its own computational output, which leads to self-destruction of brain tissue if not interfered with; for this reason, its brain tissue must be connected to computers so that the output can be constantly discharged to them.

Although AO-300 is only approximately 15 cm in diameter, it is capable of taking in extreme amount of SCP-2757-JP due to the above-mentioned extraordinary intelligence. This protocol is to monopolize SCP-2757-JP in the baseline universe by mass production of AO-300, thus eliminating the risk of civilization arising in the outer space.

To date, AO-300 instances have been generated and managed at fifty-three Clandestine Sites, successfully holding approximately 34% of SCP-2757-JP in the entire baseline universe. Since it is estimated that at least approximately 15% of the total amount of SCP-2757-JP is required for the development of a civilization comparable to humanity, the established end goal of the protocol is to host approximately 90% of SCP-2757-JP on the Earth. Once the target amount is reached, the population of AO-300 will be controlled depending on the increase of SCP-2757-JP requirements on the Earth.
