Item #: SCP-3590-JP
Object Class: Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: All traces of SCP-3590-JP in the public have been covered up.
Three SCP-3590-JP-1 instances are to be contained as samples in humanoid containment cells. Yoshida ██████ is also to be contained in a humanoid containment cell as well. The other SCP-3590-JP-1 instances are available as D-class personnel upon request.
Description: SCP-3590-JP is the collective term for a series of anomalous phenomena associated with the inclusion of Japanese citizen Yoshida ██████ on the wanted list. Subsequent investigations revealed that all individuals involved in SCP-3590-JP were unaware of the anomaly's occurrence.
On 20██/5/3, Yoshida was designated as a wanted suspect in a homicide case and was the subject of the Special Reward Program for Investigations (Public Bounty Program). Later investigations revealed that Yoshida did in fact commit the murder in question and that their inclusion on the wanted list was made pursuant to non-anomalous procedures.
On 20██/5/6, the local police received a call from Takayama ██████, who informed them that Yoshida ██████ was hiding in a mountain in his neighborhood. When the police searched the mountain near Takayama's home, they found and arrested two entities bearing a strong resemblance to Yoshida (hereafter referred to as SCP-3590-JP-1 instances). For their contribution to the arrest of the two Yoshida entities, Takayama was rewarded two million yen by the police.
The Foundation's examination revealed that SCP-3590-JP-1 instances have no physical or mental differences from Yoshida at the time they were wanted. In addition, SCP-3590-JP-1 instances themselves have not been observed to possess any memetic, cognitohazardous, or otherwise anomalous properties as of writing.
In the six months following the Takayama's case, fourteen calls were made by several individuals, resulting in the arrest of fifty-seven SCP-3590-JP-1 instances by the police. A total of fifty-seven million yen was transferred from the police to the informants as a reward during this period, which caused a budgetary shortfall within the police department. It was confirmed that some equipment was scaled down as a result of various internal discussions on this matter. None of the police officials suggested withdrawing the bounty on Yoshida during these discussions.
On 20██/11/16, the police became suspicious of the fact that as many as fifty-seven SCP-3590-JP-1 instances had been arrested and launched an investigation into the bounty on Yoshida. They eventually discovered that there was an unusual situation regarding the bounty. Specifically, several informants including Takayama had released SCP-3590-JP-1 instances bred at their homes into neighbouring areas, and then reported them to fraudulently obtain the bounty. It is believed that they shared the SCP-3590-JP-1 breeding method within their circle of friends and profited heavily from the aforementioned means.
Following this, the police raided the residences of Takayama and other informants and discovered twenty SCP-3590-JP-1 instances and equipment believed to be used for their care. At the time of the raid, several SCP-3590-JP-1 instances were found to be severely debilitated due to starvation and other factors. Due to these facts, as well as the intentional release of SCP-3590-JP-1 instances into places where they could be harmed, such as on the road or in the mountains, Takayama and their accomplices were arrested for breaching the Act on Welfare and Management of Animals. All SCP-3590-JP-1 instances discovered were also arrested.
During police interviews, Takayama and their accomplices confessed to how they had bred SCP-3590-JP-1, a summary of which is as follows.
- Isolate a pair of SCP-3590-JP-1 instances, male and female, in a dark room. SCP-3590-JP-1 instances become extremely alert when they mate, thus never look into the room, or they will stop mating.
- About a week after mating, an egg measuring roughly 5 cm in diameter can be found in an area close to the female, such as behind a desk. Retrieve and warm the egg to about human body temperature; after about a week of continued warming, an SCP-3590-JP-1 instance will hatch.
- The hatched SCP-3590-JP-1 instance will grow into an adult in about a month if fed appropriately.
As of writing, no sex differences or oviposition organs have been observed in SCP-3590-JP-1 instances. All attempts by the Foundation to breed SCP-3590-JP-1 instances have failed, as have attempts by Takayama since SCP-3590-JP ceased to influence them. However, items seized from the residences of Takayama and their accomplices included photographs of SCP-3590-JP-1 instances shortly after hatching and eggshells in which SCP-3590-JP-1 instances are the genetic parents.
Following the arrest of Takayama, the police started rounding up illegal SCP-3590-JP breeders, and successfully arrested seven SCP-3590-JP breeders through house-to-house interviews and flyer distribution in areas where SCP-3590-JP-1 instances had been arrested. Meanwhile, a neighbour's tip-off led to the police arresting Yoshida for breaching the Act on Welfare and Management of Animals by keeping several SCP-3590-JP-1 instances under poor conditions and causing the death of some of them. It is presumed that Yoshida attempted to breed SCP-3590-JP-1 instances due to lack of money while living as a fugitive. However, it was confirmed that their attempt failed due to underfeeding and insufficient knowledge of the ecology of SCP-3590-JP-1, including the specific environment in which they mate.
Once Yoshida was arrested, SCP-3590-JP ceased and all persons involved became aware of the anomalous situation, which also attracted the Foundation's attention and prompted immediate intervention. As SCP-3590-JP-related events were not reported by any nationwide media, the Foundation was able to cover up SCP-3590-JP by simply amnesticizing those involved, tampering with relevant records, retrieving the feral SCP-3590-JP-1 instances and the reward money. Through the cover-up efforts, the Foundation secured eighty-six SCP-3590-JP-1 instances.
The Foundation's investigation into the origin of SCP-3590-JP failed to find any entities or anomalies suspected as potential causes, and also confirmed that it did not originate from Yoshida or their relatives.
